Why were TN Democrats removed from their committees, and how is that connected to Black voter suppression in Memphis? Swipe through to read our analysis of this story.

It's clear: the legislative system that's supposed to protect us is rapidly stripping us of hard-won democratic rights.

Voting harder in a compromised two-party system won't get us anywhere. We must organize! Join us at pslweb.org/join.

While Cuba focuses on guaranteeing basic human rights and necessities, Trump causes economic chaos and starts war.

Cuba is an example to the rest of the world what can be done when workers run things, not the billionaires. US billionaires can't stand this, and have to intervene to destroy it.

Trump has failed in Iran. The Cuban people are standing up against imperialist attacks just like the people of Iran.

¡Cuba Sí, Bloqueo No!
Let Cuba Live!

"MANY PUERTO RICANS ENLIST TO ESCAPE LIFE AT HOME"

These days, Memorial Day is arranged as a day “without politics”—a general patriotic celebration of all soldiers and veterans, regardless of the nature of the wars in which they participated. This is the opposite of how the day emerged, with explicitly partisan motivations, to celebrate those who fought for justice and liberation.

The concept that the population must “remember the sacrifice” of U.S. service members, without a critical reflection on the wars themselves, did not emerge by accident. It came about in the Jim Crow period as the Northern and Southern ruling classes sought to reunite the country around apolitical mourning, which required erasing the “divisive” issues of slavery and Black citizenship. These issues had been at the heart of the struggles of the Civil War and Reconstruction.

To truly honor Memorial Day means putting the politics back in. It means reviving the visions of emancipation and liberation that animated the first Decoration Days. It means celebrating those who have fought for justice, while exposing the cruel manipulation of hundreds of thousands of U.S. service members who have been sent to fight and die in wars for conquest and empire.

This is definitely not the first time the United States has declared war on Black America, and it won't be the last.

The Democratic Party failed to stop this racist redistrict plan. We need to build an independent party that will End the War on Black America once and for all!

We are witnessing horrors inflicted by our own government on the world in real time. People in our communities are being abducted or murdered by police. The rights we have fought so hard for are being stripped away. We see the death and destruction that our tax dollars are paying for in Iran and Palestine and so many other places.

It is vitally important that we not only remember and honor those killed by U.S. imperialism but that we hold space as a community for our collective grief. Let us come together and commit to building a future without war. A better world is possible.

You are invited to a community vigil for the victims of U.S. violence this Sunday at 7:00 PM. 🕯️🕯️🕯️ Join political and religious organizations and community members at Glencliff United Methodist Church for an evening of music, spoken word, and testimony.

Our own country is inflicting appalling violence on the world, and the community needs an opportunity to grieve these atrocities and say to leadership that enough is enough.

Let us come together this Sunday to bring visibility to the people--including soldiers and civilians--whose lives have been stolen by wars in Palestine, Sudan, Iran, and beyond. May we leave with a visceral sense of urgency, solidarity, and empowerment to take action for justice!

On Sunday, we met at Southeast Library to discuss the history of general strikes and conscientious objection, two powerful tools we have as workers to stop business as usual and struggle for a future that meets the needs of the people, not the billionaires!

📣 NEW SCREENING ALERT! 📣 The latest documentary by Abby Martin exposes the US military as the world's largest institutional polluter.

This is a seriously important film. Do not miss the 2nd opportunity to see it in Nashville! (Thank you to Random Sample for hosting on Earth Day.)

The US military industrial complex has got to go!
