Yesterday, the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce brought together leaders from business, real estate, finance, and technology for Chicago at a Crossroads: Rebuilding the Core. The discussion examined how transformative investments and strategic development are shaping the future of Chicago. Panelists highlighted the city's competitive advantages, including its world-class talent and strong business ecosystem, while exploring the importance of continued investment in infrastructure, housing, transit, and projects that support long-term growth.

A day after Michael Reinsdorf and Danny Wirtz joined us at the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting to talk about the 1901 Project, they broke ground on this transformational project. This is an incredible investment in Chicago and the West Side, bringing jobs and economic development that will have a ripple effect. Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Chicagoland Chamber’s 122nd Annual Meeting of Membership! 🥂

The program featured remarks from Mayor Brandon Johnson, Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle, Eileen Mitchell of AT&T, and Dan Lynch of United and Chair of the Chamber Board, who shared perspectives on leadership, economic growth, and the opportunities ahead for our region.

Attendees also heard from Danny Wirtz, Chairman and CEO of the Chicago Blackhawks, and Michael Reinsdorf, President and CEO of the Chicago Bulls, during a keynote fireside conversation moderated by Ravi Baichwal of ABC 7 Chicago. The discussion focused on the 1901 Project and the role major investments can play in driving economic development and shaping Chicago’s future.

The Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce has released a statement on the passage of Illinois’ FY27 state budget.

While the Chamber appreciates Governor Pritzker and the General Assembly’s commitment to fiscal responsibility, a balanced budget, and long-term economic competitiveness, concerns remain about new taxes included in the proposal.

“These regressive and legally questionable taxes will make it harder and more expensive for businesses to operate at a time when employers are already navigating inflation, tariffs, supply chain challenges, and broader economic uncertainty,” said Jack Lavin, Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce President and CEO.
