Meet the newest Vice Chair of the Chamber's Women's Business Council: Joanne R. Gamber! ✨

Joanne is an Audit Partner at EY with more than 20 years of experience. She serves large public and private companies in tech, logistics, and consumer/retail sectors, working with executive teams and audit committees on financial reporting, governance, capital markets transactions, and business transformation.

She is also a dedicated advocate for developing future leaders and creating opportunities for women to grow and thrive in their careers. That commitment is rooted in her own professional experience. "Throughout my career, I've experienced firsthand the value of strong networks and mentorship," Joanne shared. "That's why I'm especially passionate about the Council's work to create educational, networking, mentoring and advocacy opportunities that help women thrive in both the business and nonprofit communities."

The Chicagoland Chamber's annual Golf Classic is a day away, bringing a full day of golf, networking, and fun. One of the most thrilling events of the year also returns: the 𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗚𝗼𝗹𝗳 𝗕𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗗𝗿𝗼𝗽, presented by Ferrara.

Tomorrow at 5 PM, a helicopter takes flight over the course and drops hundreds of golf balls onto a designated target. A recent Maryland court ruling striking down the state's 2021 digital advertising tax is renewing scrutiny of Illinois' newly enacted digital advertising tax under SB 3019. The decision found Maryland's ordinance violated federal law and ordered the state to refund taxes collected with interest.

"This should be a glaring warning sign to our State lawmakers who passed Illinois' own version of this legislation this year. Digital ad taxes are bad policy. Whatever revenue needs Illinois has, the answer won't be found in unconstitutional provisions that unfairly target digital platforms, as confirmed by the court,” said Jack Lavin, President and CEO of the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce.

Last night, the Emerging Leaders Council gathered at Bally's Chicago for a fireside chat with Ryan Coppola, General Manager of Bally's Chicago🌟

From career advice to reflections on mentorship and networking, it was an evening full of insight for our next generation of Chicagoland leaders.
