Cave-ins are the leading cause of trenching deaths.

Stay safe on the job:
• Protective systems are required (sloping, shoring, shielding) for trenches 5 feet or deeper
• A competent person must inspect the trench and surrounding area daily and as conditions change
• Every worker in a trench must be within 25 feet of a safe exit point
