Last week, The Boulevard of Chicago welcomed community members, partners, supporters, volunteers, and advocates to our 2026 Annual Luncheon: Stronger Together, Building Systems That Heal.

Guests heard inspiring remarks from keynote speaker Bobby Watts, enjoyed a program led by emcee Evrod Cassimy, and joined us in celebrating our two incredible award honorees for their outstanding contributions to our community.

One of the most powerful moments of the afternoon was a video featuring Boulevard residents and staff, highlighting the impact of medical respite care, housing support, and the healing power of community. (Head to the link in our bio to watch it! // Watch it at the link below!) Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we also exceeded our $50,000 paddle raise goal, raising more than $60,000 during the event alone! 🎉

Thank you to everyone who attended, donated, sponsored, volunteered, and helped make this event such a success. We are stronger together.

A huge thank you to the volunteers from Baird for spending time in The Boulevard of Chicago’s garden earlier this month! 🌱💚

The small but mighty group helped lay down mulch, prepare and move soil, and pull weeds as we continued getting our garden ready for the growing season ahead. The vegetables and herbs grown in our garden help support fresh, nourishing meals for our residents.

We’re so grateful for partners like Baird who help keep our garden and our community growing strong.

A big thank you to Devices 4 the Disabled!

One of the things we love most at D4D is being able to help other organizations find the equipment their clients and patients need.

Last month, Olivia, an occupational therapy student at The Boulevard of Chicago, stopped by our warehouse to pick up a transfer bench with an arm trough — a piece of equipment we adapted to provide extra support during bathing for a person with limited arm mobility.

The Boulevard of Chicago does incredible work providing medical respite care, support services, and housing assistance for adults experiencing homelessness. Many of the people they serve don’t have the resources or connections to find specialized medical equipment on their own, which makes partnerships like this so important.

The Boulevard of Chicago is proud to recognize volunteer Scott Holleman as the recipient of the 2026 Nancy Hanson Outstanding Service Award at this year’s luncheon, “Stronger Together: Building Systems That Heal."

Over the past year, Scott has jumped in to help out with several key volunteer tasks, including becoming the de facto leader of our gardening program, helping create welcoming and beautiful outdoor spaces for our residents, and even bringing joy and laughter during the holidays by dressing up as Santa. His kindness and dedication have made a lasting impact on The Boulevard community, and we are honored to celebrate him. ✨

There’s still time to purchase tickets for this year’s luncheon. Follow this link: https://blvd.org/event/2026-luncheon-fundraiser to join us on June 4th!
