Property taxes are skyrocketing out of control, and it’s time to actually solve the problem rather than just talk about it.

As Commissioner, I commit to ushering in reforms that alleviate the burden placed on working people and businesses:

✅ Lower tax burdens for homeowners, renters, and businesses by raising the assessment level on vacant land, which currently gives a tax break to speculative investors

✅ Consolidate the more than 2,200 separate taxing bodies within Cook County

✅ Continue tax relief for homeowners, and expand relief to renters, who make up some of Cook County’s most vulnerable residents

✅ Build more housing, which will welcome more people into Cook County and lower tax bills by distributing tax levies across more households

When ICE terrorizes our city and neighbors, we need leaders who are willing to not just speak up but stand up.

As Commissioner, I plan to fight back against the authoritarian efforts of the Trump administration:

✅ End contracts with vendors that share data with ICE and other hostile federal organizations

✅ Protect data and block the targeting of other at-risk groups, such as trans people, same s*x couples, and abortion patients

✅ Offer residents the ability to access County services remotely to improve accessibility and keep people out of harm’s way in the event that they could be targeted while seeking services in person

✅ Provide healthcare options to residents whose immigration status has left them uncovered due to state budget cuts

✅ Demand the State’s Attorney prosecute federal agents that break the law and terrorize our neighbors

Cook County runs a critical network of hospitals, health clinics, and a Medicaid plan called CountyCare, that half a million patients rely on.

As Commissioner, I commit to protecting it:

✅ Provide alternative coverage options for the more than 30,000 patients projected to lose CountyCare coverage due to Federal cuts

✅ Expand the CountyCare provider network to give patients more options for care

✅ Ensure that CountyCare maintains an up-to date provider list so it’s easy for patients to find care

✅ Increase the Medicaid enrollment of uninsured patients treated at Cook County facilities by expanding enrollment support at Cook County facilities

✅ Maintain the funding that Cook County provides for abortion access via the Chicago Abortion Fund
