Share the warmth this winter!
Pay no attention to that thermometer on the wall! Trust us, winter is coming. And because of that unavoidable truth, we've begun our drive to collect new hats, scarves and gloves.

We'll provide them to our clients in the 60641 and 60618 ZIP codes to keep them and their families warmer this winter. The program will run throughout October (on October 7th, 13th, 14th, 21st, 28th). We're collecting now to ensure we have enough for the first week, when demand is always high.

To donate via our Amazon registry, visit
https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/3020D4UJVJJZ6?ref_=wl_share.
Locally purchased donations can be taken to the Big Helpers store at 4184 N. Elston Ave. from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday or to the front porches at 3912 N. Kenneth or 4242 N. Hamlin Ave. any time.

To make a monetary donation so we can purchase the specific items we need, visit www.irvingparkfoodpantry.org, via PayPal, Venmo, credit cards or Google Pay. You also can mail a check to Irving Park Food Pantry, 4256 N. Ridgeway Ave, Chicago IL 60618 and mark it for “special programs.”

Please limit your donation to only new hats, scarves and gloves. We have no space to offer other items.
If you have a large donation or to host a drive, email Lynne at [email protected] for tips or to arrange delivery. Thank you for your support!

Thank you to our neighbors in the 4300 block of Ridgeway, who asked for attendees at their block party last month to donate nonperishables to the Pantry! Peggy Leung brought in the results, which we quickly distributed to the appropriate stations for our clients. We appreciate their thoughtfulness!
If your group or organization wants to host a drive, contact Lynne on our Community Engagement team at [email protected]. We appreciate your support in every way!

We’re preparing for our first distribution of September (what?) on Wednesday, which began this morning with the Greater Chicago Food Depository delivering our order of more than 9,700 pounds of food. Volunteers worked quickly to distribute the boxes and crates to stations, freezers, refrigerators and storage spaces
Those families in need of food in our priority service area of 60641 or 60618 ZIP codes can come in to the Pantry (4256 N. Ridgeway Ave.) from 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesday to shop our full array of food, toiletries and pet food. Those outside of that area can receive a basic amount of food or use this link to find a closer pantry: www.chicagosfoodbank.org/find-food
*Please note:* We are providing expanded indoor waiting space for clients due to the inclement weather that can happen at any time.
If you would like to help us purchase all of the items needed, please make a donation at our website, www.irvingparkfoodpantry.org, via PayPal, Venmo, credit cards or Google Pay. You also can mail a check to Irving Park Food Pantry, 4256 N. Ridgeway Ave, Chicago IL 60618. Thank you for your continued support of our mission to be “Neighbors Helping Neighbors!”

Thank you to Metropolitan Family Services( Metropolitan Family Services) for its donation of three boxes of toiletry kits a few weeks ago!
The group worked with Good360 and United Airlines to pack a record 10,000 first-class toiletry kits to distribute to individuals and families across our community. Our kits were given out to clients right away and they were happy to be able to get them!

Julie Hally handled our school supplies table again this week, handing out 46 bags of supplies to our eligible clients for their children entering kindergarten through high school—most of whom are probably back and getting down to work already.
This week wrapped up our program, during which we gave out 419 packs of supplies to our neighborhood kids! Thank you to everyone who supported the program with money, supplies, time and effort to help our neighbors start the school year stronger.

Yesterday was a beautiful day in the neighborhood, as the saying goes, bringing out 75 clients to shop our many food and accessory stations for their 238 family members. The day started busy but then settled down so our registration team could register clients immediately and quickly send them to do their shopping.
We had a number of new clients, most of whom lived in our priority service area of 60641 and 60618, and we signed them up to visit us each month to shop as long as they need to keep coming. We also had a few from out of that area who just like to shop our pantry despite not being qualified for our various supplemental programs, such as toiletries and pet food. All were welcomed.
We appreciate all the hard work put in by our volunteers to keep our shelves stocked and help our neighbors shop for all the food they need!

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth at the Independence Park Farmers Market Chicago sponsored by GIPNA: Greater Independence Park Neighborhood Association!
Special thanks to all those who heeded our call and brought us specific nonperishable foods that were needed to fill in gaps in our ordering. We took them into the Pantry after the market closed so they'd be ready to hand out this morning during our distribution.
We’ll have another list for next month on September 27th, so please watch our posts if you’d like to help out by donating our special needs at the Market. We appreciate your support!
