It's time to garden with the kids! Open play or after school, we always invite our kids to help us. This weekend and today (Monday) we got our potting mix and starts ready for a hopefully bountiful summer of edible plants!

You don't need a lot of space to get your head dirty and teach kids about food and planting. Even in the city, we used our folding table and our little piece of land, and our after school kids had the best afternoon picking out their vegetables, exploring the seeds, talking about flavors, and planning our harvest feast 😍

Family Room Chicago founder grew up on a farm and knows first hand the experience of growing food is the most powerful and creative and wonderful piece of joy you can ever do with a child. Add some dirt? Best afternoon ever.

We love being your go-to spot almost every day of the year! But to keep giving you the best experience possible, we’re taking a rare weekend off to recharge. ⏸️

All Family Room Chicago locations will be CLOSED this Saturday, April 4th, and Sunday, April 5th.

Since we usually close our doors less than 10 days out of the entire year, we are using this quick breather very intentionally! Here’s what we’ll be up to behind closed doors:
✨ Leveling Up: Hosting dedicated team training sessions so we can continue providing the top-tier service you deserve.
✨ Sanitizing: Doing a heavy-duty deep clean to officially say goodbye to winter flu season.
✨ Unplugging: Giving our hardworking crew a genuine break to celebrate Easter and Passover with their loved ones!

🔒 Closed System: Our security camera system is strictly closed and proprietary.

🔑 Exclusive CEO Access: Access to this system is restricted only to the CEO. It is monitored connected only to the CEO for emergency response. There has never and will never be a plan for public/customer access.

📄 Exception: Footage may only be shared in the extremely narrow case of an incident for medical purposes, and only with the explicit consent of all individuals shown.

🛑 Risk Management: Opening access would be technologically dangerous (data interception) and legally gray (requiring impossible consent levels). We are not willing to take that risk with your family’s privacy.

WHO WE ARE:

We are a licensed children's activity center. Data compliance, ethics, and security (online & offline) are critical to our operation. Bio-information (your face, fingerprints, etc.) is yours alone. We do not take identifying photos of children (or adults) and post online because privacy is our priority.

We built Family Room as a direct response to caregivers begging for a clean, supportive, private space with basic amenities like bathrooms, changing tables, and water. We will NEVER jeopardize the safe environment we worked so hard to create.
