It is almost that time of year again, Back-to-School!

In an effort to support students getting ready for a successful return to school the Mayor's Office will be having a Back-to-School Bash!

The bash will take place this Saturday, August 22nd at Union Park from 10:30 AM - 1:30 PM with a FREE backpack distribution (while supplies last), FREE food trucks/ice cream, and additional resources

IMRR had the honor of joining Mayor Brandon Johnson to the Rohingya Culture Center of Chicago for a visit and roundtable discussion. Located in the heart of Chicago’s West Ridge community, our team connected directly with leaders and staff to better understand the needs of Chicago’s Rohingya community and learn about the ongoing impacts federal cuts to SNAP and Medicaid.

Since 2010, hundreds of Rohingya refugees have resettled and called Chicago home. Chicago will remain committed to its welcoming city values, ensuring both immigrants and refugees can continue to access services and support regardless of immigration status. We’re deeply grateful to the Rohingya Culture Center for the opportunity to visit and their continued advocacy to ensure Chicago’s Rohingya community has access to essential social services and support.

🇸🇴 Somalia’s TPS termination, announced on January 12, 2026, will take effect on March 17, 2026.

The Department of State announced an indefinite pause on immigrant visa issuance for 75 countries, set to take effect today, January 21, 2026.
