Today we reflect on the great
Malcolm Chisholm (March 1929-June 3, 2003)

This week not only marked the 70th Anniversary of Chess Records, but also that of the unfortunate passing of Chess veteran engineer, Malcolm Chisholm.
His work for Chess would directly solidify the very links between many black artists and the emerging white, mainstream version of their music that would come to be known as
Rock & Roll.

His presence and the music he helped create, is still felt and heard within the walls at 2120 S. Michigan Ave.

Here is a link for a very special audio recording of the Malcolm Chisholm Memorial Service held at Willie Dixon's Blues Heaven Foundation in the historic Chess Records Studio on June 29, 2003. It includes a very cherished recording of Mr. Chisholm himself.

Today we celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the historic Chess Records!
Although the label, founded by brothers Leonard and Phil Chess in 1950, has since been dissolved, the voices and music of so many legendary artists it brought to us is still heard and loved throughout the world, and even beyond the stars, today.

It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Lucky Peterson on Sunday, May 17, 2020 at 2:25 PM CST in Dallas, Texas. He was at home when he became ill and was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, but unfortunately did not recover. At this time please respect the family’s privacy, but do keep them in your prayers.

C'est avec une immense peine que nous vous annonçons le décès de Lucky Peterson, survenu le dimanche 17 mai 2020 à 14h25 CST à Dallas, Texas. Il était chez lui lorsqu'il est tombé malade et a été transporté d'urgence à l'hôpital, dans un état critique. Malheureusement, les médecins n'ont pas pu le ranimer.
Nous vous remercions par avance de garder Lucky dans vos prières, tout en respectant l'intimité dont sa famille a besoin maintenant.
