While the summer heat lingers, we already have our Halloween plans set! Get your costume ready and join the Sarah's Circle Associates Board for Bras & Brews, a spooktacular evening raising critical funds and supplies for women experiencing homelessness in Chicago.

This year will feature a raffle and prizes, costume contest, and Jell-O shots! Plus, we'll be collecting new and unused bras for our clients. It's going to be an absolute scream!

We wanted to give another shoutout to the Dental Access Days professionals who joined us last Saturday to provide care to our clients at Sarah's Circle! We're so thankful they are part of our continuum of care, ensuring our clients have access to crucial dental care.

At Sarah's Circle, we envision a safe and secure home for every woman in Chicago, allowing them a place to thrive. That includes access to healthcare through opportunities like Dental Access Days and our weekly primary care and psychiatry clinic.

This past Saturday, Dental Access Days transformed the Sarah's on Lakeside multi-purpose room into a nine chair dental office, ready to care for our clients. DAD is a Chicago-area non-profit organization that connects volunteer dental professionals with individuals who can't access dental care, often due to homelessness or poverty. This year, DAD cared for 34 women from Sarah's Circle, donating over $40k in dental care!

Thank you to the phenomenal dental professionals who joined us this weekend!

At Sarah's Circle, we see every day the benefits supportive housing provides to the women we serve and our Uptown community.

During Supportive Housing Week (Aug 24–28), communities across the country will engage members of Congress while they’re back in their home districts, bringing them face-to-face with the impact of supportive housing. Join us by contacting your elected officials and telling them to support policies that expand supportive housing efforts. It’s a solution that works for people AND communities.

Shelly is one of many strong women who found her way to Sarah’s Circle.

In her conversations, Shelly explained that homelessness can happen to anyone, "It can literally be a slip in the road. One moment you're on top and the next moment you're like, "I'm sorry. Wait, what just happened here?"”

Sarah’s Circle gave her an opportunity to do some reflection and learn to see things clearly. “You're more grateful and more attentive to everything about you. And I think even you get more humble because it is a humbling experience to lose everything".

When asked what advice she had for young women, Shelly shared, “Do not get involved in the distractions. Stay focused. Have a mission in mind. And make a decision to be better today than you were when you first got here. And hold on to that for the future, the present and the future. And I think we'll be fine. I think we'll be successful in the end.”

Calling all Uptown neighbors! You're invited to the 2nd Annual Sarah's Circle Block Party Saturday, September 19th!

Join us for a fun afternoon with our community and help us celebrate Kathy Ragnar’s retirement after 20 years leading the organization! Kathy recently retired as the Executive Director and transitioned to a part-time role as the Managing Director for Property Development.

There will be hot dogs and snow cones, face painting, music from Gigs By Heart, and entertainment from Clowns Without Borders USA and Circ Esteem!
