I participated in the UIC Early Outreach Program from 2008 – 2010. After graduating high school, I enrolled in the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with a minor in Entrepreneurship.
As an indigenous man from Guerrero, Mexico I have defeated many socioeconomic barriers. My mother has always been a very hard worker and was my example. She believes that with hard work and dedication anything is possible.
For six + years I have worked in youth development and project planning work with various non-profit organizations.
Currently, I am a youth program manager for the Chicago Center for Arts & Technology. In this position, I research and conduct evaluations of youth programs. Being a product of the public school system, I believe all youth deserve an equal chance of success.
I am the first one in my family to receive a bachelor's degree, purchase real state, and achieve many other accomplishments.
My goal is to help as many Chicago teens reach their potential and become global citizens.

After attending the EOP for 6 years and graduating in 2016, I enrolled at Valparaiso University in a double major Social Work and Political Science.
During my time at Valparaiso University, I worked with incarcerated populations as a tutor, intern, and student.
The focus of my senior thesis is ways to reform the juvenile justice system and provide youth resources they need to reduce recidivism and keep them connected with their community.
Upon my graduation, I plan to pursue a masters in Social Work and a Law degree.

The Urban Health Early Outreach Program (EOP) was created in 1981 as the pre-college pipeline program to the University of Illinois at Chicago Urban Health Program. The EOP was among the first on the UIC campus to recognize the opportunity for skills building in reading, math, and science and the specific application of these content areas to health sciences preparation and social determinants of health.
The mission of the EOP is to recruit and attract the next generation of leaders in health, health sciences education/research, and literacy activism. The EOP partners with UIC College of Education literacy initiatives and Urban Health Programs in the Colleges of Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Applied Health Sciences and the UI Cancer Center.
Program Goals
To help program participants succeed academically and socially in any grade level
To provide academic and technological resources and services to the global community through academic enrichment
To promote responsible academic inquiry, digital citizenship, critical thinking, and the expression of diversity
To serve families and students by fostering an appreciation of literacy development, literacy activism, and lifelong learning
Saturday Enrichment Program (SEP) is an academic year program for students. The program operates from October to April. This culturally inclusive program in its 38th year of existence provides academic skills building in English, reading, math, and science. SEP incorporates Cambridge Educational Services materials to help track progress and create continuity across content areas. Research shows that standardized testing can serve as motivation for students.
Health Sciences and STEAM focus (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math)
The EOP attracts families seeking exclusive and unique opportunities designed to provide students with a foundation for future success in higher education and next generation careers.
