We are also getting out the vote for our School Board Champions who are committed to fully-funding our public schools without closing them (unlike our opponents): Hilario for School Board President , Debby Pope for District 2B , Claudia Peralta for Chicago School Board 1B , and Norma Rios!

We encourage neighbors to support the Patrick Henry Community Garden Fundraiser, Saturday August 29, 9am - 11:30am.

There will be a lemonade stand, bake sale, live music, face painting, and more!

Funds will go to supporting the FREE community garden and FREE food pantry. The garden is at the Patrick Henry Elementary parking lot, 4229 N Drake.

It is BACK TO SCHOOL WEEKEND and we spent it with two of our School Board candidates: Norma Rios and Debby Pope for District 2B !

With the moratorium on closing schools ending, and the right-wing candidates openly talking about shutting many down, it is extremely important that we defend public education by sending our pro-public school champions into office!

The billionaires like Michael Sacks and their henchmen in the Common Ground Collective and The Urban Centerwould have you believe school closings and privatization is a solution. But all of us who lived through George Bush’s No Child Left Behind know that this is a recipe for self-inflicted disaster.

So join us at our office every Saturday at 11am to canvass for these candidates, as well as Hilario for School Board President , Claudia Peralta for Chicago School Board 1B while also collecting signatures for Rossana Rodriguez and The Team for 17 to build a !

And guess what? You’ll get to meet your neighbors while fighting for a better world. ❤️❤️❤️

Chicago renters and landlords are invited to three community meetings across the City to share their experience with rental housing conditions and learn more about proactive rental inspections. 🏘️

The City currently only conducts rental inspections that are reactive–meaning buildings are inspected only when the City is informed of an existing problem or conditions imperil renter health. Proactive rental inspections, on the other hand, would ensure that rental homes are safe and healthy before conditions deteriorate. Dozens of U.S. cities already have proactive rental inspection programs and Chicago should be next!📈

These community meetings are part of a working group convened by the Mayor’s Office to gather stories from Chicagoans and inform recommendations for implementing proactive rental inspections here in Chicago.
