Most homeless youth aren’t panhandlers. They aren’t drug users, they’re not troubled teens. Homeless families are headed by a working adult, usually the mother. More than half of homeless mothers do not have a high school diploma. Approximately 63% of homeless women have been victims of domestic violence.
Homeless children are more likely to suffer from hunger, poor physical and emotional health
They are less likely to attend school, and more likely to fall behind in class.

The 2024 One Summer Chicago (OSC) application is now open at www.onesummerchicago.org. This year, we are excited to offer over 28,000 paid opportunities to individuals aged 14-24 across public, private, and nonprofit sectors. The application deadline is May 3rd, and we encourage individuals to apply early to increase their chances of receiving a job offer.

The power of “LOVE” is built within the connection of family. Home should be a safe space. Home is a place you grow up wanting to leave, and grow old wanting to get back to.” “There's no place like home.” “Where we love is home- home is where our feet may leave, but our hearts remain”

Make your home loving, as your children are as sponges, they absorb everything they see, and hear. “It’s where Trauma should not exist” but it becomes present, when we don’t do the work to provide the protection our children need.

Ongoing attachment disruptions caused by parental instability and discontinuity in care can exacerbate attachment insecurity as the youth externalize detachment trauma form parents.

The short- and long-term effects on the child's mental and physical well-being are often devastating. These effects include severe anxiety, depression, PTSD, and toxic stress

As separation can also result in delays in cognitive development. Managing a youth with behavior problems can be difficult, but HHMP, aim to provide services that can help our youth gain a reconnection with themselves, and their families.

The Family Reunification Program, is where we help educate and bridge the gap of families, to assist in reuniting our youth back in the home. Many families may not understand the identity or pronouns that the youth desire to be acknowledged by. Harmony Haven aim to uplift and educate families, and with our support. You can help us bridge the gap of family disconnection, by gaining a reconnection with your youth.

Harmony Haven Mentorship Program, aim to provide a “SAFE SPACE, for DIVERSITY and INCLUSION by creating such an environment by developing an inclusive culture, fostering communication, providing a safe space for the youth to express their feelings, and implementing strategies and tools, to provide youth with family support, TF-CBT, Group Therapy, and a Mentorship approach

The youth of today will become our future leaders of tomorrow, we all can lend a helping hand, to support the well-being regardless of Race, Gender, and Culture.
