Join a day of learning, connection, and conversation around mental health and well-being in AAPI communities at the University of Pittsburgh (University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work).

This hybrid symposium brings together researchers, clinicians, students, and community members to explore culturally responsive approaches to mental health and the diverse experiences of AAPI communities.

🚐 A new van, and more ways to serve our community!

We’re excited to welcome a brand new van to our Home-Delivered Meal program at our Lake office, made possible through a generous grant from AgeGuide Northeastern Illinois under the Older Americans Act Title III-C program.

Our team delivers hot, culturally familiar meals to homebound Korean-American older adults throughout Lake County—providing not only nutritious meals, but also wellness checks and meaningful connection in their native language.

With our new van, we can reach more clients, keep deliveries safe and on time, and spend less time worrying about transportation and more time caring for our community.

Thank you, AgeGuide Northeastern Illinois, for helping us keep our neighbors fed, safe, and connected! 💜

작년에 이어 올해도 로욜라 학생들을 만날 수 있었는데요. 한울의 사회복지서비스, 이민프로그램, 지역사회 건강&교육 부서가 함께 참여해 무료 시민권 수업과 영어 튜터링 봉사활동, 학생과 가족들을 위한 사회복지 혜택 신청 지원 등 한울에서 제공하는 다양한 서비스와 참여 기회를 소개했습니다.

At the event, we introduced our programs in Social Service, Immigration, and Community Education, including information about our free citizenship classes, English tutoring volunteer opportunities, and assistance with social benefit applications for students and their families.

On September 2, Hanul Family Alliance joined Korean community leaders at a special farewell luncheon honoring U.S. Senator Dick Durbin at the newly renovated Korean American Association of Chicago (KAAC) building in Glenview.

The gathering brought together leaders from across the Korean American community to reflect on Senator Durbin’s decades of public service and his longstanding support for Korean and immigrant communities. Conversations touched on older adults, immigration, human rights, DACA and the reunification of separated Korean families.

Hanul’s Executive Director, Irene Sohn, was honored to present Senator Durbin with an appreciation plaque recognizing his years of service and commitment to our community. We are grateful for the opportunity to be part of this meaningful gathering.

Thank you, Senator Durbin, for your decades of leadership, advocacy, and service to the Korean American community.

Your legacy will be commemorated and remembered always!

On August 28th, our Executive Director at Hanul Family Alliance, Irene-Sohn joined fellow ACT leaders Ji-Young Cho from Korean Community Service Center of Greater Washington-KCSCGW, Myoungmi Kim from Korean Community Services of Metropolitan New York, Inc. (KCS), and Hye-won Shin from Somang Society for an in-person Aging Care Together (ACT) Coalition meeting at the Korean Community Service Center in the Greater Washington area.

ACT brings together four Korean American nonprofits from across the country to share knowledge, build connections, and explore collaboration opportunities. Their mission is to strengthen support for Korean American older adults and caregivers by fostering collaboration among community-based organizations, developing culturally grounded caregiving support, and improving access to resources that fit the needs of Korean American families.

With over two years of building partnerships across organizations and regions, ACT continues to work towards creating a community where Korean American older adults and caregivers feel supported, respected, and connected. 🩵❤️💙

이번 주의 한울 프로그램 | 사회복지서비스

이번 주 소개할 한울의 프로그램은 사회복지 서비스입니다💙

한울은 언어와 문화적 배경을 고려한 복지 혜택 신청 지원과 사례관리 서비스를 제공하고 있습니다. 필요한 공공복지 혜택을 확인하는 것부터 신청과 갱신까지 전 과정을 함께하며, 지역사회 주민들이 보다 안정적이고 자립적인 생활을 이어갈 수 있도록 돕고 있습니다.

특히 대표적인 서비스인 저소득층 에너지 지원 프로그램(LIHEAP)을 통해 매년 3,000가구 이상의 저소득 가정이 전기 및 가스 요금을 지원받을 수 있도록 돕고 있습니다.

올해 LIHEAP 신청은 10월부터 시작되며, 예약은 9월 22일(화)부터 가능합니다.

📌 LIHEAP은 사전 예약제로 운영되며 방문 접수는 받지 않습니다. 전화 연결이 어려운 경우 성함, 전화번호, 예약을 원하는 서비스를 음성메시지로 남겨주시면 확인 후 연락드리겠습니다.

지역사회 주민들에게 꼭 필요한 복지 혜택과 자원을 연결하는 한울 사회복지서비스 부서에 많은 관심과 응원 부탁드립니다!
