A note from our ED:

June is here, and with it, Pride Month. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

When people picture Pride in Chicago, they often picture the North Side. The parades, the crowds, the rainbow crosswalks. Those things matter. But Pride lives here too, on the South Side, in neighborhoods like Beverly and Morgan Park, in the quieter and just as essential work of making sure everyone who calls this place home actually feels at home.

That work is part of what community development is really about. At BAPA, we talk a lot about blocks, corridors, and storefronts, but beneath it all is a simpler idea: a neighborhood should be a place where every family sees itself reflected. Where neighbors look out for one another. Where difference is something we welcome rather than something we tolerate.

I think about this as a professional, and I think about it as a dad. My husband and I are raising our son here because we believe this is that kind of place, and because we want to keep building it into that kind of place for every family that comes after us.

So this Pride Month, I am thinking about all the ways a neighborhood can tell someone you belong here. Not just in June, but all year long. That is the work, and I am proud to get to do it.

Happy Pride. 💗

This past weekend was everything. 🇺🇸

The 100th Memorial Day Parade. A record-breaking Ridge Run. The whole neighborhood out in full force. 🏃

That’s the Beverly and Morgan Park I love, and it’s exactly what BAPA works every day to protect, celebrate, and grow. 💚

More than a century ago, North Beverly neighbors made a lasting choice - preserving land at 91st & Hamilton as a place for tennis, connection and community instead of development. Today, the Beverly Hills Tennis Club carries that legacy forward as a true neighborhood hub. 🎾

Fun fact: the club has hosted Chicago District tournaments for decades and even welcomed celebrity players like actress Elke Sommer and Grand Slam champion Frank Parker. With eight Har-Tru clay courts, paddle tennis in the winter (yes, even in snow and 0° temps), and a season that traditionally kicks off on Kentucky Derby Day, there’s always something happening.

“It’s all about creating friendships with neighbors who you might not otherwise meet,” said manager Patrick Reichard.

Beverly/Morgan Park, you showed UP. 🏃‍♂️🎉

The 2026 Ridge Run is officially in the books, and what a year to remember. We broke records with the number of runners who came out to race through Beverly/Morgan Park, and we did it during the 100th Anniversary of our Memorial Day Parade. If that’s not a milestone weekend, we don’t know what is.

This year, we were proud to be part of the circuit, bringing even more runners and energy to Chicago’s oldest neighborhood 10K. The weather showed up, the community showed out, and the post-race festival brought it all home.

None of this happens without the incredible sponsors and vendors who make Ridge Run possible year after year. To every business that stepped up, set up a table, donated goods, or put their name behind this event: thank you. We couldn’t do it without you.

To Beverly/Morgan Park, the best community in Chicago. YOU are the reason this event has been going strong for nearly 50 years.

Thank you for showing up, cheering loudly, and making this one for the record books.

Summer time Chicago is officially here. See you all again next year! ☀️

Not just another parade… this year marks the 100th anniversary of the Beverly/Morgan Park Memorial Day Parade!

Kicking off around 10:15 AM after the Ridge Run, the parade will head north from 110th & Longwood to Ridge Park

Crowd favorites like the Jesse White Tumblers will be back among other groups.

New for the milestone year: a special performance by Mother McAuley’s a ca****la choir, a “Hero’s Tent” honoring 100+ local veterans and a custom brew “Memorial March” from Horse Thief Hollow.

Stick around after the parade for a community celebration with food trucks, music and more. Bring a chair, bring your neighbors and be part of a century of remembrance and community!

What a day! 🏡✨

The 2026 BAPA Home Tour did not disappoint. From stunning architecture to beautiful interiors, this year’s homes reminded us why Beverly/Morgan Park is truly one of a kind. The turnout was incredible, the energy was electric, and the neighborhood showed up and showed OUT.

A special thank you to Mercy Home for Boys & Girls for hosting us this year at their beautiful Longwood Drive location.

A huge thank you to our sponsors and vendors who made the day so special, and to every single homeowner who opened their doors and welcomed the community in. That kind of generosity is what makes this neighborhood unlike anywhere else in Chicago.

We already can’t wait for next year.
