The presentation will highlight public health data accessible through Data.Illinois.Gov. Stephen Konya, Chief of Staff at IDPH, will share how stakeholders can use (and are currently using) this tool. Also discussed will be how public health data resources align with the Innovation Plan, which includes improving access to public health data and synchronizing community health assessment efforts that require the use of public health data.

Health Information Exchange is a critical component of healthcare reform in the United States, and this study is a great example. A 30% reduction in hospital re-admissions and over $350,000 in savings over a one-year period!

Health information exchange usage directly correlated to significant cost savings and a 30 percent reduction in readmissions through the emergency department, according to a study published in Applied Clinical Informatics.
