Last week, a new USCIS policy memo was released regarding “Adjustment of Status” and the green card process. While this memo is the latest obstacle in an already complicated immigration system designed to create uncertainty and fear, here is what our community should know:

-Do not panic or make rushed decisions.
-Be cautious about misinformation, speculation, and immigration fraud.
-Speak with a trusted immigration attorney before taking any action.

The memo does not automatically mean anything has immediately changed for any individual case. This memo may also face legal challenges, which may affect how, when, or whether it is implemented.

Every case is different, and decisions should be made with accurate information and trusted support, not fear.

If you have questions or concerns, know that you are not alone in this process. Call the ICIRR Family Support Network hotline to consult an attorney: 855-435-7693 (available in English, Spanish, Arabic, Korean, Polish, Russian, Ukrainian, Dari, Urdu, Pashto, Cantonese, and Mandarin)

Kick off Pride Month with us by joining the Northside Lakefront Rapid Response Team on Saturday, June 6 from 4:30-7:30pm to talk with businesses in Boystown about their rights and what to do if they encounter immigration enforcement. Additional information will be shared with registrants, and those who do not register will not be admitted.

Everyone deserves to feel safe regardless of the color of our skin or who we love. Let’s keep coming together to protect our communities from ICE by making sure everyone knows what to do in the face of immigration enforcement actions!
