Members of the US House of Representatives are considering the BUILD America 250 Act, a new surface transportation reauthorization bill that will determine how hundreds of billions of dollars of federal funds are spent. Investments range from public transit, bike lanes, and rail, but historically the bulk of funding has gone toward roads and highways.

Unfortunately, the bill looks like the highway contractors' wish list—no surprise given the influence automobile, oil, roadbuilding, and trucking industries have exerted over infrastructure policy.

Act now to demand more transportation options that address the climate and affordability crises. Urge your member of Congress to vote NO on the BUILD America 250 Act, which doubles down on the fossil fuel and car-dependent status quo.

From Citizens Taking Action for Transit
Chicago's regional public transit system is headed toward a financial cliff. Without new funding, CTA, Metra, and Pace face a budget gap in 2026 that will grow substantially in future years.
The RTA has launched a new webpage to serve as an information hub on the regional fiscal cliff. Users can find the latest updates, learn about the current budget process, view a timeline, and learn ways to get involved.

This page will be updating frequently over the next few months as the situation evolves — check it out by visiting www.rtachicago.org/fiscalcliff.
