Good Afternoon Everyone,
This is just a little side step from politics, probably much needed. On May 12th, 2016, we will be conducting our 24th Annual Anti-Drug and Alcohol Seminar at the Old Neighborhood Italian American Club (ONIAC). As a brother member, I cannot thank this organization enough. I want to commend them for their commitment to our youth and to the seminar, and also to the countless other activities they support that benefit our community.
As a result of input from our members and other non-member interested parties, we have decided to restructure this year's event. We are going to format this seminar in a way to include more neighborhood schools. We are inviting two additional Catholic grammar schools and are inviting 3 Public Schools. Saint Gabriel's in Canaryville has been invited and confirmed their participation. Thank you Saint Gabe's. We are still waiting to hear back from the other four schools. We are hoping with this approach we can impact a greater amount of students from all areas of the ward.
This year we will have presenters that range from CPD narcotics officers on the street, Criminal Court judges, Internet Safety Professionals and those with personal life stories. Connie's Pizza is always served, along with soft drinks. It truly is a great day and a great learning experience for the students. It has been an amazing run. Many, many thanks to all who have given their time to make this event a continual success.
