After years' worth of advocacy, the Junk Fee Ban Act has passed both chambers.

From the beginning, the goal has been simple: to put money back into the pockets of working families, where it belongs. Hidden fees have drained money from working families, stretching their budgets further amid a national affordability crisis.

Today, we move one step closer to making pricing transparency the standard across Illinois.

I am proud to have led this initiative in the Senate. Thank you to State Representative Bob Morgan and Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul for your leadership on this bill. Thank you to Governor JB Pritzker for your support.

Last week, legislators, advocates and community leaders came down to Springfield for Latino Unity Day, a powerful display of solidarity and advocacy to promote equity and support Latino communities across Illinois.

It was an honor to participate in events hosted by illcfoundation, meeting with neighbors and honoring Congressman ‘Chuy’ Garcia for a lifetime of public service.

Thank you to We Are Our Own Medicine who along side my office and many other orgs brought together a team, and a community to bring awareness on Gun a Violence Prevention and how that looks like for everyone. I was honored to be a panelist to talk about how policy in Illinois can work to help better protect all Illinoisans against gun violence. We got to hear testimonies of survivors, the orgs. who are boots on the ground and on scene when they get the call of these unfortunate circumstances. Many ideas were shared from a diverse group of people who believe in no one dying to gun violence! Thank you to all those who said yes to coming out to listen, learn, give your input because it matters. Let’s work in unity for this fight to bring awareness but ultimately to end this tragedy of our loved ones losing their lives to gun violence here in Illinois and hopes for the world!

Your voice is heard, You matter, and everyone else of this amazing community I have the pleasure of serving along with all constituents of Illinois!
