We, members of the Chicago Committee for Human Rights in the Philippines (CCHRP) unite together to form an organization that will promote, defend and advocate for human rights and people's rights in the Philippines and of Filipinos in diaspora who are forced to migrate due to political repression and due to the labor export policy of the Philippine government. We believe that the struggle for the

protection and advancement of human rights and people’s rights in the Philippines and of Filipinos abroad is connected to the overall struggle for national sovereignty and genuine democracy in the Philippines. We acknowledge the current semi-colonial and semi-feudal condition of Philippine society, and we are committed to supporting the advancement of the national democratic movement in the Philippines by educating, organizing, and mobilizing people of all nationalities who are friends of the Filipino people until the Philippines is free from its three root problems of imperialism, feudalism, and bureaucrat capitalism. Tanggol Migrante Chicago out on No Kings to reject fascism under Trump and Marcos Jr, and shame the Philippine Consulate for its neglect of Filipino migrants like Kuya J and Tita Rebecca! Earlier this week, Kuya J’s wife met with consulate officials about their failure to provide a wellness check or release Assistance to Nationals Funds, and she was met with dismissal and no concrete promises. Just like Tita Rebecca and other cases nationally like Kuya Greggie and Kuya Rodel, the Consulate has consistently failed to provide meaningful support in spite of having millions allocated. SHAME ON THE PHILIPPINE CONSULATE! ICE OUT NOW!

Tanggol Migrante reaffirms our commitment to fight for Tita Rebecca and all Filipino migrants, and we demand the Philippine Consulate to apologize and take responsibility for its treatment of Tita R, and its shameful complicity with the fascist Trump administration

JUSTICE FOR TITA REBECCA!

This International Women’s Day, CCHRP met to plan our week of action for Tita Rebecca and against Marcos Jr.’s visit to NYC to speak on the issue of women at the UN. Members of Tanggol Migrante Chicago flew to NYC to confront and expose Marcos and the Ph governement’s shameful neglect of Filipino women like Tita Rebecca, and their blatant hypocrisy for pretending to advocate for women while being complicit in the abuse of Filipino women by ICE, and by the U.S. military in the Philippines. Join us in commemorating the 1 year anniversary of Tita Rebecca’s detention on Sat Mar 14th to continue the fight for Tita Rebecca, to get accountability from the Ph Consulate, and to demand ICE out of our communities!

Repost from .baltimore

‼️URGENT‼️ SURFACE CHANTAL ANICOCHE! DEFEND MINDORO!

Chantal Anicoche, a Filipino‑American community organizer, was immersing with farmers and Indigenous Mangyan in Abra de Ilog, Occidental Mindoro. During the AFP’s bombings on January 1, she was separated from her group and remains missing.

On January 1, the Armed Forces of the Philippines launched a major attack on Barangay Cabacao in Abra de Ilog, Occidental Mindoro. In a clear violation of international humanitarian law, four attack helicopters dropped at least twelve bombs, followed by hours of aerial strafing, terrorizing the peasant and Indigenous Mangyan communities.

The AFP’s attacks killed 3 Mangyan children, injured their mother, and forcibly displaced 188 families from the area. It also led to the death of at least 2 student researchers who had been integrating with the Mangyan community to more deeply understand their conditions. One of these youth was Jerlyn Rose Doydora, a leader with Kabataan Partylist, who died from an illness while trying to escape from the relentless bombing in the area.

Chantal Anicoche is a 25‑year‑old Fil‑Am community leader and University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) graduate who was deeply involved in Filipino student organizing and advocacy. Through the Filipino‑American Student Association (FASA), she connected with other Filipinos around shared identity and the issues facing Filipino communities in the U.S. and the Philippines. Her commitment to environmental, farmers’, and Indigenous peoples’ struggles was shaped by her family’s own experiences of economic hardship.

Driven by her commitment to Indigenous and environmental issues, Chantal traveled to the Philippines to learn directly from the Mangyan community amid worsening economic hardship and militarization. She was present in Abra de Ilog during the AFP’s January 1 attack and has been missing ever since. There is an urgent demand for her immediate surfacing, as her whereabouts and condition are being blocked from public view.

Street interview with Bernard from at our International Migrants Day of Action for Tita Rebecca! As Tita Rebecca is scheduled to be deported, it is crucial for all activists in solidarity with those in detention to push for proper medical checks. Tita Rebecca needs to receive a proper comprehensive medical exam without ice supervision and we must use our power as those in solidarity to push for that!

Street interview with Kyle from and at our International Migrants Day Action for Tita Rebecca! As Tita Rebecca and other Filipino nationals have been held in detention, the Philippines Consulate has provided little to no funds for these migrants. However, it has spent thousands of dollars on home renovations to "install new picture windows" in their living room in Highland Park. We must continue to pressure the consulate to provide the resources needed for migrants in detention like Tita Rebecca! Join us Tuesday Dec 30th 7PM CST/5PM CST for our emergency unity call to learn how to take action! From Broadview to the Philippines, end political corruption against all migrants!

Street interview with Dr.
Robolino from at our International Migrants Day Action for Tita Rebecca! Last week, Dr. Robolino conducted a medical consultation via video call with Tita Rebecca, revealing acute Stage 4 kidney disease and uncontrolled high blood pressure putting her at high risk with a long-distance deportation flight. With 4 deaths in ICE detention in December alone, we need to escalate and broad our defense of migrants like Tita Rebecca! Join us Tuesday Dec 30th 7PM CST/5PM CST for our emergency unity call to learn how to take action!
From Broadview to Palestine, end medical violence against all detainees!

URGENT UPDATE ON TITA REBECCA! Due to our movements sustained pressure, Tita Rebecca’s will be deported to the Philippines on Jan 2nd after 9 months of detention and 3 months of inaction following her removal order. While her release from detention is welcomed, we highlight the Philippine Consulate’s failure to fulfill their promise to provide a medical examination prior to her flight. This holiday season, Tanggol Migrante Movement will celebrate the spirit of giving and family by relentlessly advocating for Tita Rebecca, and by fighting for the dignity and rights of all migrants and families. Join us in calling the Chicago consulate everyday from Dec 26-Jan 2nd to pressure the Philippines Consulate to do their job, and hold them accountable to their neglect and corruption!

Tita Rebecca’s children, April and Patrick Lowes, drove from Kentucky to Chicago to meet with the consulate about their mother’s 9 months long detention in ICE. Despite Tita Rebecca’s severe health condition and her illegal prolonged deportation order, they were met with indifference and inaction by the Philippine Consulate. Hear April’s experience on the meeting, and learn how to take action to fight for Tita Rebecca and all migrants forced to migrate from their homelands and facing Trump’s fascist immigration crackdown. ONE STRUGGLE, ONE FIGHT,
MIGRANTS OF THE WORLD UNITE!

BRING TITA REBECCA HOME! ✊❤️‍🔥

Tita Rebecca has been in detention for 9 months, with her health in dangerous conditions, and yet the Philippines Consulate has failed to meaningfully advocate for her and her family. Tanggol Migrante Movement demands that the Philippines Consulate uses their consular powers to secure a quick release, continued median assistance, and a letter of endorsement to ensure Tita gets support when she lands in the Philippines.

Join us this week to share Tita Rebecca’s story, invite other individual and organization to get involved, and to fight to get Tita Rebecca a safe and speedy release from detention!

“We have been failed by the legal system and the Consulate so much that the only thing we can do is gain enough support to be able to make so much noise that they cannot ignore us anymore.” -June, Gabriela USA
