Thank you for bearing with us through the rain last Saturday at our Back to School Fair with State Senator Graciela Guzman and Northwest Center at Kelvyn Park!

We collected and distributed over 1200 backpacks for neighborhood families, as well as boxes of groceries from the Zakat Foundation of America for the first 100 families who joined us.

Over 55 community partners joined us to share resources on healthcare, housing, education, immigration rights, and youth programs. There were free haircuts from local business, Epic Studio, a gaming truck from the Mayor’s Office of Community Safety, and face painting from a talented local artist.

We had the Mobile Care Chicago Van providing support and the Chicago Department of Public Health HealthCare Van providing vaccines, plus dental checkups and hygiene kits from Humboldt Park Health.

Whether you attended the fair, volunteered, donated backpacks and school supplies, partnered with us as a community organization, or represented an elected office, we are grateful to you all for making this year's fair such a success despite the weather.

My office wishes all students, educators, and parents a wonderful first week of classes and a safe, healthy, exciting 2026–2027 school year!
