United for Impact! This week, Essentials for Childhood sites from across the country gathered in Chicago for a two-day Community of Practice in-person meeting hosted by Prevent Child Abuse America at Loyola University’s Kasbeer Hall.

From the lessons from the field and data deep-dives, to fireside chats and small group discussions, the room was full of honest conversation, shared challenges, and a clear commitment to advancing safe, stable, nurturing relationships and environments for every child.

Thank you to every partner who traveled to be in the room. The strengthened connections and insights shared here will carry our work forward.

Today in Washington, DC, PCA America joined the Thrive From the Start Convening on addressing Infant and Toddler Homelessness, alongside national partners working across housing, early childhood, child welfare, and homelessness systems.

Represented by our Policy, Communications, and Research teams, we engaged in cross-sector conversations focused on narrative change, shared insights and tools, and coordinated strategies to advance upstream solutions that strengthen family well-being, particularly economic stability, housing security, and mobility supports that help prevent homelessness before it begins.

Our participation reflects the role of policy, communications, and research in advancing not just shared understanding, but coordinated action grounded in data, informed by evidence, and activated through narrative change to move ideas into practice.

Earlier today, we also met with congressional offices on Capitol Hill to highlight the importance of sustained, cross-sector investments in these upstream solutions that support expectant parents, infants, toddlers, and their families from the start.

Together, these conversations reinforce that meaningful progress happens when policy, communications, and practice are aligned—and when we move from shared understanding to coordinated action. We look forward to continuing this work alongside our TFTS partners to amplify evidence-based strategies, strengthen collaboration across sectors, and elevate policies and narratives that advance economic stability and housing security for families from the start.

Prevention is often invisible, but its impact is not. It looks like:

- Organizations that take the time to examine their policies
- Staff who are trained to recognize early warning signs
- Environments, both physical and digital, that are intentionally designed with safety in mind
Through research and real-world experience, we know what works.

And now, we’re sharing it.

This upcoming webinar, hosted by PCA America, draws from an evidence-informed framework designed to help youth-serving organizations strengthen their child sexual abuse prevention knowledge, policies, and practices.

Because when we know better, we must do better.

SAVE THE DATE!
For the first time ever, we're bringing it home.

PCA America will host its 2027 National Conference in Chicago, the city where we are headquartered and deeply rooted in community. This moment carries special significance: it’s not just a national convening, it’s a homecoming that reflects the local relationships, partnerships, and lived commitment that ground our work every day.

We will bring together leaders, practitioners, advocates, researchers, and partners from across the country in Chicago for this next National Conference. Carrying forward the energy and connection of our last gathering, this upcoming convening will be another powerful opportunity to come together around the ideas, relationships, and shared commitment that move prevention forward.

There is something special about being in a space with people who are deeply invested in children, families, and the future we are working to build together. And we’re already looking ahead with excitement to what this next gathering will make possible.

When we come together with families at the center, momentum builds. Save The Date.

Prevention doesn’t begin in moments of crisis. It begins in the environments we create every day.

At PCA America, we believe that the prevention of child sexual abuse in youth-serving organizations occurs through policies, practices, and people who are equipped to recognize risk and respond with care.

Join us on May 7, as we bring together experts, leaders, and practitioners in the prevention field to talk about what it truly takes to create safer environments for children, especially in the places they learn, grow, and belong.

Every pinwheel tells a story. So does every family.

This month, we uplifted voices and reinforced a simple truth: when families are supported, communities thrive. Pinwheels of Possibility is how we live that belief, meeting families where they are and ensuring they have what they need to heal, grow, and thrive.

Accepting his Outstanding Alumni honor from Penn State, our Senior Director of Communications, Takkeem Morgan, put it plainly, drawing from his own journey: families need support and pathways to healing. That is the work. That is the possibility we turn into action.

Thank you to the partners, advocates, and communities who stood with us, and who keep standing with families all year long.

Partnership is at the heart of prevention.

As we close out Child Abuse Prevention Month, we’re proud to recognize the longstanding partnership between PCA America and Kappa Delta, one rooted in shared purpose and decades of impact.

In honor of Child Abuse Prevention Month this year KD recently shared some of that history in a blog post.

“Kappa Delta’s connection to child abuse prevention began with one of our own. In 1972, KD sister Donna Stone helped found the organization that would later become Prevent Child Abuse America… Since then, Kappa Delta members have raised over $38 million and dedicated countless hours of service to advance prevention programs, education, and support for families nationwide.”

This is what prevention looks like, community, commitment, and collective action.

Thank you Kappa Delta on behalf of children and families all across the nation!
