Save the date!

On September 15, join Thrive From the Start for a powerful conversation: ‘Solving PN3 Homelessness Through Health Interventions.’

When housing and health systems work together, families get the support they need to thrive from day one. We'll dig into how states are building bold, cross-sector partnerships to tackle PN3 (prenatal to age 3) homelessness, and what it takes to make these collaborations work.

PCA America is honored to be part of this conversation. Save your seat!

“Families need an ecosystem of support in order to raise thriving children.”

Huge congratulations to Claire Louge and the team at Prevent Child Abuse Arizona, featured in Arizona Public Media on how proposed changes to Head Start could put vulnerable Arizona families at risk.

Claire’s leadership, and PCA Arizona’s ecosystem approach, is exactly the prevention-centered work our communities need: connecting parents, caregivers, and children to the relationships, resources, and routines that help families thrive long before a crisis. Grateful for partners who keep pushing for a stronger prevention system and a brighter future for kids and families.

Dolly was larger than life, yet led with her heart, and always put the children first.

Through her Imagination Library, she placed more than 200 million books into little hands, proving that love, when made tangible, can shape a childhood.

Thank you, Dolly, from all of us here at Prevent Child Abuse America.

The data doesn't lie. It’s telling us something important.

When families lack access to stable housing, quality healthcare, and economic opportunity, the ripple effects reach every corner of a child's life. Yet for too long, we've been working from incomplete pictures.

The PCA America Family Well-Being Indicators Dashboard changes that. For the first time, advocates, policymakers, and communities have a clearer, data-driven look at the factors shaping family well-being across the country, so we can stop reacting and start preventing. It’s part of our Blueprint commitment to let evidence guide action, and rather than producing new numbers, we’re removing the barriers to using data by bringing trusted sources together in one place.

That’s a wrap on our Back-to-School Satellite Media Tour.

A 5:30 a.m. call time in Chicago. 29 back-to-back TV and radio interviews. Stations in communities from Tulsa to Tennessee to the Carolinas, reaching families across the country in a single morning.

At the center of it all: our President & CEO Dr. Melissa Merrick, and one clear message, Back-to-school is a stress test for families. Supplies, schedules, finances, and emotions all spike at once, and that’s exactly when upstream support matters most.

Preventing child abuse and neglect isn’t about blaming parents. It’s about making sure every family has the resources and support they need before a crisis, not after. Because strong families are the foundation of strong communities. And prevention is one of the smartest investments we can make in our nation’s future, safer kids, healthier families, stronger communities, a stronger economy.

At least 1 in 7 children in the U.S. experiences abuse or neglect each year.

Together, we can change that number.

Some legacies are measured in generations, not years.

A planned gift is more than an estate planning decision; it's a promise that children and families will have support long after we're gone. When you include Prevent Child Abuse America in your plans, you join the Donna J. Stone Legacy Society: a community of people building a safer future, one family at a time.

Every gift, of every size, helps fund prevention before crisis ever begins.

August is National Breastfeeding Month, a time to recognize the many ways families can be supported in meeting their infant feeding goals.

Home visitors are uniquely positioned to provide families with trusted, individualized support during pregnancy and after a baby arrives. Research from Healthy Families New York has explored how conversations between home visitors and families about breastfeeding may help support breastfeeding continuation.

This week, the Healthy Families America network had the opportunity to hear directly from Healthy Families New York researchers about their findings and what they may mean for home visiting practice.

The research reinforces the important role home visitors can play by creating space for ongoing conversations, responding to families’ questions and needs, and connecting families with information and resources that support their goals.

During National Breastfeeding Month, we celebrate the home visitors and families having these conversations every day and the research that helps us continue learning how to strengthen support for families.

Primary Prevention is one of the smartest investments we can make in our nation’s future.

Safer kids. Healthier families. Stronger communities. A stronger economy.

When we support parents before a crisis hits — not after — everyone benefits: kids grow up safe, families are stronger, and our communities and economy are healthier for it. That’s the heart of our new PSA.
