The World of Italian Publishing In support of the Italian publishing sector, ITC, in partnership with A.I.E.

(The Italian Publishers Association), undertakes many initiatives including facilitating the gathering of information, conducting market surveys, invitations to attend the major book fairs in Italy including Bologna Children’s Book Fair, Turin International Book Fair, Artelibro, and Rome “Più libri più liberi”; advertising campaigns and participation at major international book fairs worldwide. In

recognition of the increased importance of the U.S. market, the ITC has established a Publishing Task Force in its Chicago Branch to promote Italian publishers by creating and maintaining its publishing website www.italbooks.com and by organizing Italy’s presence at US book fairs (BookExpo America, ACTFL – American Council Teachers of Foreign Languages and NECTFL – Norhteast Conference Teachers of Foreign Languages).

Beautiful bookstores and libraries in Italy: The Biblioteca Statale di Lucca is a historic library located in the heart of Lucca, Italy. Originally founded in the 17th century by the Abbot Girolamo Minutoli, the library was transferred in 1877 to the ex-convent of Santa Maria Corteorlandini. The extensive collection includes over 464,000 volumes, including over 4,000 manuscripts, 835 incunabula and 12,000 historic cinquecentines.
