UPDATE: Due to predicted high temperatures on Friday, September 4, 2026, the Garfield Ridge Satellite Senior Center will not be closing early. The senior center will be open 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Friday, September 4, 2026.

Our movie, Calamity Jane will still start at 12:30 p.m.

Here's an updated flyer, finally!!

We just received the news that our buses for Senior Fest will be beautiful Charter Buses! They will not be the old school buses. We need 50 people to sign up for the bus from the center to get a bus. Please sign up ASAP to get your space on a Charter Bus from the Garfield Ridge Satellite Senior Center to Senior Fest and back on Thursday, September 17, 2026.

This Wednesday's, August 26, 2026, movie is the Snows of Kilimanjaro at 1:00 p.m.

"In this comglomeration of several of Ernest Hemingway novels, writer and adventurer Harry Street lies severely wounded and delirious at the foot of Africa's majestic, snow-covered mount Kilimanjaro. While waiting for help to arrive, Street feel his own death approaching and thus begins reflecting oupon his failures with regret and sadness. Through fever-induced flashbacks, he recounts the story of his life to his devoted but neglected wife Helen who tends his wounds and tries desperately to retore his will to live. She refuses to let him give up hope and so endures his haunting memories of lost loves and his contrite ranting about the compromises he made in order to be successful. Although Street does not yet realize it, his last chance for love and happiness rests with Helen."

The September calendar!

NOTE: Seats are filling up on our coach bus to Senior Fest, so sign up NOW! The bus will leave at 8:00 a.m., so you need to be at the center by 7:30 a.m. that day. Because of the coach bus, you will stay for the whole Senior Fest (not leave early like we did when we had a yellow school bus).

People have said they are interested, but have to show up for Ukulele club. This is not an instructional class, but if you've played guitar, you can pick up the ukulele easy. You do have to have your own ukulele to participate. We are also willing to help you work through the very beginning if you want to try it out. We'd love to see you there.

Due to Chef Gloria's recent injury, her August cooking classes at the senior center have been cancelled. She will be back in September on Wednesdays at 12:30 p.m. starting September 16, 2026.

Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Let's all wish Chef Gloria a quick recovery. 💓

This just in: Chef Gloria Dattulo Hafer will not be in next week, due to a medical appointment. Chef will not be here on Friday, August, 14, 2026.

We will keep you updated about whether she will be back the week after that, August 21, 2026.
