Spreading Hearts is about kindly acknowledging a person & giving them a small pewter heart. SPREADING HEARTS was birthed in the summer of 2009. A small pewter heart was hidden in my daughters suitcase the night before she left to serve in a feeding scheme in a township outside of Cape Town, South Africa. Melissa carried her heart in her pocket as a reminder that she was loved by all of us back ho

me. Her older sister Kelsey and I traveled to South Africa for 2 weeks, to be with her. God downloaded an idea onto my heart to bring extra small pewter hearts along so to "spread them" to the South Africans, as we felt a nudge, or heard that still small voice. Oh, the joy that was spread, by an unsuspecting person receiving a heart with a warm "You seem to have a beautiful heart" said to them. We arrived back to the United States, committed to spread hearts/good-will/love whenever we were prompted. We designed our own heart and recently had 8000 of them made. YA-HOO. My Mom loved Spreading Hearts -
sharing them, holding them,
talking about them.

I recorded this just hours before
her heart attack began.
Six weeks later, she was gone.

What I wouldn’t give for one
more moment…
one more hug, one more laugh.

So today, in her honor—
hold someone close, give a
heart, share love freely.

We miss you deeply.

Robert Redford gave the world Sundance — and unknowingly sparked the beginning of Spreading Hearts. The very first pewter hearts I ever carried came from the Sundance Catalog, and from that seed a movement was born. Fourteen years and 60,000 hearts later, I honor him with gratitude for planting what has grown far beyond what either of us could have imagined.

✨ First day of first grade magic ✨
Addie’s teacher from last year found her and pulled out the little pewter heart she’s been carrying in her pocket — the one Addie gave her. 🫶🏻 She told Addie she’s bringing it to her new kindergarten class this year… to remind them they are loved. 💜

This is the heartbeat of Spreading Hearts — love being carried forward, one heart at a time. 🥹

Still feeling the love from this weekend at FOUND Collective women conference in Chicago. Spreading Hearts showed up and God showed off!
✨We blessed and gifted the incredible Talent who shared their wisdom and used their gifts so vulnerably (we were blown away, but not surprised!)
✨Our amazing SH team poured out big love with joy and excellence
✨We sold and gifted more than 9000 hearts in the two days we were there - that’s a whole lotta love being spread!
✨Worship and the speaker’s messages deeply stirred hearts
✨We shared stories, shed a few tears, and reminded each other how much every heart matters
and - we love partnering with you! The entire Live Events team rocks! Thank you!

It all started in the summer of 2009. Kelsey, Melissa, and I had just returned from two unforgettable weeks in South Africa. Melissa had spent five weeks before that capturing the lives of 250 children through her lens- kids who received just one meal a day. She didn’t just take pictures- she poured love into them, both behind the camera and face to face. THAT WAS THE TRIP WHERE SPREADING HEARTS WAS BORN. We came home changed, carrying with us the quiet whisper: “Keep loving. Keep giving.” And we did - one heart at a time. Fast forward to today: a group of amazing childhood friends just stuffed 2000 small bags, each with three pewter hearts, to be given away next weekend at the conference in South Barrington, IL. From a single spark on that trip… to over 50,000 hearts spread around the world. This movement is fueled by love. And we’re just getting started. . . # BeTheLight
