Austin Special Chicago operates the Community Day Services program and Residential Services program for people living in the Chicago community regardless of age, race, color, religion, sex, national origin, or ancestry. Community Day Services Program
The CDS program offers vocational, social, and educational services to adults 18 years and older. Services provided include the following:
- Vocatio
nal training
- General counseling
- Speech
- Basic academics
- Daily living skills
- Recreational activities
- Art
- Transportation
- Participation in Special Olympics and community-based mainstream activities
Residential Program
Our Residential Program is comprised of CILA (Community Integrated Living Arrangement) group homes. Each CILA house provides services to eight or fewer adults who are unable to live independently, but are capable of community living with an appropriate level of supervision, assistance, and supportive services. The residential program offers individualized guidance and intensive training to clients, based on their abilities, dreams, and desires. We provide assistance in the skills of daily living as well as the following:
- Money management
- Medication administration
- Community integration and other activities
Residents receive 24-hour supervision and are encouraged to live as independently as possible.
