Hi Park Lovers,
The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency has issued a Red Forecast Air Pollution Action Day for today, July 17 2026, for all of Chicago due to a forecast of Unhealthy-Red category particulates. This includes our Park!

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR COMMUNITY MEMBERS?

Members of sensitive groups, which includes people with heart or lung disease, older adults, children and teens – should consider taking any of these steps to reduce exposure:

Avoid strenuous outdoor activities.
Keep outdoor activities short.
Consider moving physical activities indoors or rescheduling them.

Everyone else – consider taking any of these steps to reduce exposure:
Choose less strenuous activities (like walking instead of running) so you don’t breathe as hard.
Shorten the amount of time you are active outdoors.
Be active outdoors when air quality is better.

Street String Community Crafts group at Jefferson Playlot Park is cancelled for this Saturday, July 11. We'll see you on Saturday, July 25. Bring your art or craft project and chat with us! We meet on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month in the spring, summer and fall outside in the Park from 2-4 PM. All ages and arts and crafts are welcome. You may even score some free yarn!

Big underground leaks in the Park lead to big holes in the ground! A lot of work at Jefferson Playlot Park today to repair leaks under the water fountain!

Downed trees and branches at JPP have been reported to our Park Supervisor. We will need to be patient, as the sheer number of branches and trees lost in the storm is great! We'll keep you posted as we get more info!
