What is an abortion ban?
An abortion ban is a state law that prohibits a person from ending a pregnancy, either entirely, or after a certain point in pregnancy.
Right now, 41 states have some form of abortion ban in effect. 13 of those states have a total ban, meaning abortion is illegal at any stage of pregnancy. The rest ban abortion after a specific number of weeks, sometimes as early as 6 weeks, often before many people even know they are pregnant.
Most of these bans include limited exceptions, but in practice those exceptions are difficult to access and leave providers and patients in legal uncertainty.
This is the reality in America today.
Project 50 is a non-partisan PAC working to change it, in every single state. We invest in and grow state-based organizations that are building real political and electoral power at the local level, because that is where abortion rights are won and lost.
All 50 states. That is the mission.
