Yesterday was a MAJOR milestone in our program’s history. The goal posts are up!

The goalposts and humble scoreboard seen here are simple amenities that most youth football players take for granted. Not us. For years we’ve played on a field that was nothing more than chalk lines on grass.

Now, thanks to a vote of support from 26th Ward Alderperson Jessie Fuentes, we’ll play on a proper football field.

It’s an easy way to tell kids in our neighborhood that “football is here” and, “you matter.”

We’ll work night and day to make sure football in Chicago Humboldt Park represents the community and makes you proud to call us your neighborhood team.

Happy first day of June!!!

For the first time in Chicago history, we will be raising the Puerto Rican flag in Daley Plaza, and the whole community is invited. Join us at 11am on Friday. Next week, keep a look out for all of the 48th Puerto Rican People’s Day Parade festivities, and it’s also PRIDE MONTH.

Por primera vez en la historia de Chicago, izaremos la bandera puertorriqueña en Daley Plaza, y toda la comunidad está invitada. Acompáñennos este viernes a las 11:00 a. m. La próxima semana, estén atentos a todas las festividades del 48.º Desfile del Pueblo Puertorriqueño; ¡además, es el MES del ORGULLO!

We unveiled narcan stands in the 26 Ward. Anyone who is in need will have access to narcan without barriers, requirements or conditions. Too many lives have been lost due to not having access to life-saving treatment here in 26th Ward.

Thank you to our community partner who continues to show us what keeping each other safe looks like.

We Keep Us Safe has been the mantra of the 26th Ward since 2023, and we have multiple opportunities for you to lock in! Hope to see you at one of our three upcoming events.

Additionally, in April Mayor Brandon Johnson signed the Peacebook Executive Order. This order does two things: 1) provides paid, year-round youth peacekeeping positions, and 2) establishes the Peacebook Working Group. The Working Group will be co-chaired by youth and Deputy Mayor Khair Humphries, and they will lay the groundwork for citywide investments in restorative, youth-led anti-violence programming.

Thank you to everyone who has made it possible, including and every young person who has participated in our Peacebook pilots.

"Nos mantenemos seguros" ha sido el mantra del Distrito 26 desde 2023, ¡y tenemos múltiples oportunidades para que te sumes a la iniciativa! Esperamos verte en alguno de nuestros tres próximos eventos.

Además, en abril, el alcalde Brandon Johnson firmó la Orden Ejecutiva Peacebook. Esta orden logra dos objetivos: 1) ofrece puestos remunerados de mantenimiento de la paz para jóvenes durante todo el año, y 2) establece el Grupo de Trabajo Peacebook. Este Grupo de Trabajo será copresidido por jóvenes y por el vicealcalde Khair Humphries, y sentará las bases para realizar inversiones a nivel municipal en programas contra la violencia de carácter restaurativo y liderados por la juventud.
