Since moving from Nigeria in 2017, SPC Oyekanmi has been driven by gratitude for the opportunities this country has given her.

Now, she’s paying it forward—gaining her citizenship while making it possible for her sons, Okiki and Henry, to become citizens, too. Enlisted as a 92Y, SPC Oyekanmi is ready to dive into this new chapter with relentless passion and purpose.

P.S. It took her a little over a year and a half to make this happen… many recruiters turned her away because they didn’t want to deal with the fact that she is in her 40s! But still, she stayed persistent and never doubted it could be done! 🙂

Please help me congratulate and welcome SPC Vissea Arnold Cabalan to the Illinois National Guard! SPC Cabalan previously served in both the Air Force and Marine Corps Reserves but has decided to make the Illinois Army National Guard his home.

Cabalan currently works at Community First Medical Center as a Registered Nurse and is excited to continue serving his country and community as a Combat Medic Specialist (68W).

In the future Cabalan desires to commission as a registered nurse for the National Guard. I have no doubt that he will make a great addition to this amazing organization! Welcome to the TEAM SPC CABALAN!

Chonofsky is a graduate of the University of Oxford where he earned a PhD in Philosophy in Statistics, but his dream is to fly helicopters. 🚁Though his path to achieve that goal will be long and difficult, I have no doubt that SPC Chonofsky will accomplish his dream.
