26th Street once more was yours yesterday.

From the Arch at Albany to Kostner, 2.5 miles of families, neighbors, and visitors came out for the 55th Annual Mexican Independence Day Parade. Some of you have been coming for decades. Some of you came for the first time. All of you made it what it was.

Thank you to everyone who lined the route. To the Governor, the Mayor, and the elected officials who stood with our community. To our sponsors, our members, and the businesses of 26th Street. To the bands, the dancers, the charros, and every group that marched.

And to the staff and volunteers who made a day like this look easy.

55 years. Still here. Still ours.

La calle 26 ayer fue una vez mas de ustedes.

Del Arco en Albany hasta Kostner, 2.5 millas de familias, vecinos y visitantes salieron para el Desfile del 55 Aniversario de la Independencia de México. Algunos llevan décadas viniendo. Otros vinieron por primera vez. Todos hicieron que fuera lo que fue.

Gracias a quienes se pararon en la ruta. Al Gobernador, al Alcalde y a los funcionarios que acompañaron a nuestra comunidad. A nuestros patrocinadores, socios y a los negocios de la 26. A las bandas, los bailarines, los charros y cada grupo que desfiló.

Y al personal y a los voluntarios que hicieron que un día así se viera fácil.

55 años. Aquí seguimos. Sigue siendo nuestro.

Unidos Desfilamos, Más Fuertes Que Nunca.

Antes del desfile al mediodía, únase a New Life Centers para la carrera El Grito 5K:
- La jornada comienza con Zumba a las 8:00 a. m.

- La carrera infantil precede a la carrera principal y comienza frente a la Plaza Manuel Pérez Jr. a las 8:30 a. m.

- La carrera El Grito 5K comienza frente a la Plaza Manuel Pérez Jr. a las 9:00 a. m.

- Los participantes correrán hasta el arco de Little Village y regresarán al punto de partida para la ceremonia de premiación.

Todas las ganancias de la carrera se destinarán a apoyar la misión de New Life Centers de conectar a los jóvenes y sus familias con Cristo y la comunidad a través de la justicia restaurativa, espacios seguros y relaciones para la vida.

DESFILE MEXICANO:

- Transmisión en vivo:
Para quienes no puedan asistir en persona, el desfile se transmitirá en vivo de 12:00 p. m. a 1:00 p. m. por Telemundo Chicago, el canal de streaming de NBC Chicago, Telemundo.com, NBCChicago.com y las aplicaciones de Telemundo y NBC Chicago.

Gran Mariscal:
El 55.º Desfile Anual del Día de la Independencia de México en la Calle 26 estará encabezado por una de las voces más representativas de la música regional mexicana: Adriel Favela.

No se permitirá estacionar en las siguientes calles. Calle 26 y Sawyer, dirección sur hacia el callejón

- De acuerdo con la ordenanza de la Ciudad de Chicago, los vehículos serán remolcados.

- Si su vehículo es remolcado, puede llamar al 311 para localizarlo. - Deberá pagar una tarifa al depósito de vehículos.
- Por favor, tome medidas para evitar que su vehículo sea remolcado.

Before the Parade at noon, join New Life Centers for El Grito 5k:
- The day beings with Zumba at 8 AM.
- The Kids Dash preceeds the race and kicks off in front of Manuel Perez Jr. Plaza at 8:30 AM.
- The El Grito 5K race kicks off in front of Manuel Perez Jr. Plaza at 9 AM.
- Participants will run to the Little Village arch and run back to the starting point for an awards ceremony.

All race proceeds will go to supportNew Life Centers’ mission to connect youth and their families with Christ and community through restorative justice, safe spaces and life relationships.

MEXICAN PARADE:

For those unable to attend in person, the parade will be streamed live from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. on Telemundo Chicago, the NBC Chicago streaming channel, Telemundo.com, NBCChicago.com and Telemundo and NBC Chicago's apps.

The 55th Annual 26th Street Mexican Independence Day Parade will be led by one of the defining voices of regional mexicano — Adriel Favela

- Please take measures to avoid having your vehicle towed.
