Statement from Alderman George Brassea on the Passing of Former Mayor Angelo “Sam” Ciambrone

It is with profound sadness that I acknowledge the passing of former Chicago Heights Mayor Angelo “Sam” Ciambrone. Sam’s leadership, dedication, and love for our city left an indelible mark on our community.

During his two terms as mayor from 1995 to 2003, Sam worked tirelessly to improve the lives of Chicago Heights residents. His tenure was marked by significant accomplishments, including advancements in infrastructure, a focus on community development, and his unwavering commitment to public service. Sam’s vision helped lay the foundation for many of the improvements we continue to benefit from today.

Both before and during my time as Alderman, I had the privilege of seeking Sam’s counsel and friendship. His wisdom and generosity of spirit were evident in every conversation. He was a source of guidance and inspiration, and his legacy will continue to inspire those of us in public service.

On behalf of the 5th Ward and the entire Chicago Heights community, I extend my deepest condolences to Sam’s family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time. May we honor his memory by continuing to work toward the betterment of Chicago Heights, as he so passionately did.
