OKLAHOMA WOMAN ARRESTED FOR EMBEZZLEMENT

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
MAY 11, 2026

ELK CITY, OK – The Roger Mills County Sheriff’s Office requested the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation to investigate allegations of embezzlement.

Investigators learned that 46-year-old Angie Ellis, a former office manager for a pressure pumping company, embezzled money through payroll and false reimbursement claims for company bills that were purported to be paid for with Ellis’ personal credit cards.

An audit was conducted of Ellis’ personal bank statements and credit cards, along with checks Ellis wrote to herself from the company. It was found that from 2023 to 2024, Ellis wrote unauthorized checks for reimbursement towards company bills and other expenses.

The total amount for all unauthorized checks was estimated over $138,000. A payment to one vendor, of over $586.00, was found in Ellis’ bank records.

Based on the information and evidence gathered, an arrest warrant was issued for Ellis by the Beckham County District Court.

On May 7, 2026, Ellis turned herself into the Beckham County Sheriff’s Office and was booked into the Beckham County Jail on charges of Embezzlement.

The OSBI appreciates the Beckham County Sheriff’s Office and Roger Mills County Sheriff’s Office for their continued assistance with this investigation.

*Charges are merely an accusation and the accused is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

Roger Mills County, this week was a busy, eventful, productive and successful week for your Sheriff’s Office. But not without the help of several local and state agencies. We have worked with Game Wardens, State Troopers, DHS, Department of Agriculture Agents, OSBI, Beckham County Sheriff’s Office, Elk City Police Department, Dewey County Sheriff’s Office, Custer County Sheriffs Office, Warr Acres Police Department…. I’m probably missing a couple. Thank you to the RMSO staff and their ability to work well with others, in service to the citizens of RMC and the State of Oklahoma. Be proud of your public servants!

The Roger Mills County Sheriff’s Office has recently received several concerns/complaints about underage drivers operating motorized vehicles on streets and roadways. In towns where ordinances allow golf carts and UTVs to operate on streets, the ordinance first mandates the vehicles must be operated by drivers with a valid driver license. Note: RMC deputies do not want to write citations or seize vehicles. But when we consider the safety of your/our children we will enforce the law as necessary. If a deputy approaches you and asks you to keep your children off the dangerous roadways, please consider the contact a courtesy with respect and concern for public safety. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Please like and share with your neighbors, this is a friendly reminder. The goal is truly the safety of children.

RMSO Dispatch Coordinator Chris Clift and Dispatcher Amber Bush recently completed a project updating and remodeling the Dispatch area. Clift applied for a grant through the Oklahoma Emergency Management/911 Authority to fund eighty percent of the project. Construction crews closed off the dispatch room from public access in order to comply with privacy regulations regarding state computers and data. Doors and work areas were made ADA compliant. The work space was also prepped for a 911 upgrade that will require room for new equipment. Congratulations to Chris and the Dispatch staff for their seamless and professional completition of the project.
Also a special thanks the Office of the County Clerk for organizing and processing a daily tangle of documentation and bureaucracy required to obtain and spend the awarded grants.
Michael Thompson was the go between for the County Clerk and Sheriff’s Office. With no general contractor it was a mountain of work to order all the correct components.

We invite the community to attend Draggin' Main in Cheyenne this Saturday, October 18. Classic cars and unique vehicles are welcome. Historically, local law enforcement has adopted a hands-off approach, intervening only when public safety is at risk. This year will follow the same protocol.

Please refrain from 'burning out' in areas surrounded by crowds of children.

Additionally, the County Extension Office and Rodeo grounds on the west side of Cheyenne will be heavily patrolled. Avoid spinning tires in the gravel to prevent damage from flying rocks.

We aim to ensure a safe and enjoyable evening for all.

Please note that applicable citations in District Court include Operating A Motor Vehicle In A Manner Not Reasonable Or Proper ($294.00 fine) and Reckless Driving ($512.00 fine if someone is placed in danger).

Update: Highway 33 is Open

Roger Mills County residents, be aware that Highway 33 at county road 1760 (the Turley sign) is closed. A truck loaded with cattle is blocking both lanes. RMC Deputies, Oklahoma Department of Wildlife, Oklahoma DOT, RMC District 3, and local landowners are on scene attempting to clear the roadway.

Please avoid the area.
