It was a pleasure attending the Arbor Day celebration today at the
Governor's Residence!
🌲Fun Fact: The podium used for the ceremony comes from a black walnut tree harvested in Wyoming and was built by Buffalo High School.

Three trees were planted today - an Ohio Buckeye, Elm, and a tree grown from a seed harvested in WY and traveled to outer space on Artemis I! 🚀

Congrats to the poster contest winners from Worland and Lovell!

Great job, Wyoming State Forestry Division, thank you for all your hard work!

Did you know that soil is made up of layers? These layers can be hundreds and thousands of years old. When digging into soil, you are literally digging into history. Every layer tells a story; it’s like the earth’s own natural history book. 🪱🪱

Most soils in Wyoming are fast draining sand or heavy clay that can hold on to water for a long period of time. Ideal for plants like Penstemon, Yarrow, and Russian Sage!

🌱 Topsoil – Where plants grow and roots live
💧 Subsoil – Stores water and nutrients
🪨 Parent Material – Pieces of rock breaking down
🟫 Bedrock – The solid rock below all layers
