Earlier today PE707 was on the scene of a PIC on the outer loop of I-495 when it was struck by another vehicle. The crew of PE707 is ok, but the engine is not. This is a strong reminder to move over for emergency vehicles and slow down.

After consulting with 🎅 we are unfortunately going to have to cancel the big mans' ride through Chevy Chase tonight. Santa doesn't want kids (and adults alike) standing out in the rain. Santa told me he made a couple extra passes last night in hopes to see everyone.

He also reminded everyone to hang their stocking and go to bed so he can enjoy some cookies and milk when he stops tonight.

Chevy Chase Fire Department would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Thanks for all your support.

Chevy Chase Fire Department ~ Montgomery County ~ Maryland
December 5, 1959
On the morning of December 5, 1959, Chief Edwin Sackett headed for home after completing a 24 hour shift at the Chevy Chase Fire Department. Chief Sackett was due to return to work that night. When he got home he told his wife that he wasn't feeling well and was going to bed. Mrs. Sackett grew worried about her husband and went in to check on him later that morning. Sadly, she found Chief Sackett dead, from an apparent heart attack. Chief Edwin J. Sackett was 63 years old and had served 32 years.

Montgomery County Fire & Rescue has lost a true legend. Mike Marcopolous was the calm and knowledgeable voice of fire dispatch for many years. When he was on the radio, you knew somehow things would be okay. His "chess game" of apparatus transfers when there was a working incident in the County are legendary as is his one of a kind vocalization of the dispatch radio call letters, KGC-334.
More importantly though, he was a genuinely kind soul and friend who cared deeply for everyone in the Fire & Rescue service. If you received a token or gift from him, you knew you had accomplished something.
Arrangements for Brother Marcopolous are pending. Please take a moment to remember Mike and all of the people he impacted throughout his career and life.
We are certain that somewhere he is smiling down on MCFRS and reading out loud again, KGC-334.

Chevy Chase Fire Department is mourning the loss of FF Raymond "Smokey" Briscoe (retired). Smokey started at Chevy Chase Station 7 on April 3, 1989. Smokey was a guy that could always bring a smile to your face, had a joke, had your back and was truly a fireman's fireman. He was an incredible shift mate and a hugh part of Chevy Chase Fire Department and the Hazmat team for almost 20 year. No words can describe the impact he had on this department and he will be sorely missed. Thank you for all the good times Smokey. Rest in peace.
