Dear BC Community,

Yesterday morning, a BC student wrote anti-black, racist slurs and statements on a number of surfaces in Welch resident hall. Haitian Association, an organization of students representing the culture and traditions of one of the many islands in the African Diaspora, stand in strength and unity with the black community and ask our allies to stand in solidarity with us.

Such incidents are not isolated, but rather indicative of a hard truth: racism and anti-blackness are very much alive and well in American culture. Still, such ideologies prove harmful to the black psyche and body; it threatens black people's ability to spread our magic, thrive and bask in our excellence, and relish in our joy. Nonetheless, we proudly proclaim that black lives matter and each and every black student here is deserving of and entitled to a Boston College education, access to university resources, and safety on this campus.

Continue to hold administration accountable for rendering justice in this situation and actively working towards creating a safer campus environment. And as we enter final seasons here on campus, please take care of each other and practice self-care.

L’Union Fait La Force. Strength Through Unity.
