This is the newest addition to my antenna array on my VHF and Above Contest Rover. It's a 10 Ghz Slot antenna. It's effective to about 10 miles with no obstructions between stations. Each Slot opening you see acts like a dipole giving it gain. Still I made 15 contacts on this antenna during the weekend's contest.

AA2SD, Scott and KE5NJ, Chris will operate in six different grid squares this Saturday and Sunday driving over 400 miles in this weekend VHF & Above contest. What a pile of spaghetti coax and wires.

This is the KE5NJ/R (Rover) for this coming weekend's ARRL VHF and Above contest. Rover antenna setup has 50, 144, 222, 432, 903 and 1296 mhz. On a tripod I'll have a 2 foot dish with 5.7 and 10 Ghz and a looper antenna for 2300 Mhz bands. Myself and Scott AA2SD/R Rover will travel through six grid squares covering over 400 miles of driving through the Pocono mountains.

Chris, KE5NJ, Scott AA2SD, and Jim KC3BLV were up in Morgantown PA up on a "mountain" testing our 10 Ghz systems preparing for next week's ARRL VHF and Above Contest. Other than my dish being blown over and damaged it was a very successful test making several contacts each. I still managed to make a 100 contact on CW with a bent dish after I made a realignment in the field. We also made contacts on 5.7 Ghz on SSB

🌌 NORTHERN LIGHTS POSSIBLE TONIGHT? A G3 GEOMAGNETIC STORM COULD BRING AURORA VIEWS FARTHER SOUTH THAN NORMAL! 🌌

Space weather forecasters are closely monitoring incoming solar activity today as a strong geomagnetic storm may develop later this afternoon and continue through tonight. If current projections hold, some lucky observers across portions of the northern United States could have a chance to see the Aurora Borealis, also known as the Northern Lights.

A G3 geomagnetic storm is considered a strong event and can occasionally push aurora visibility much farther south than normal. While the best chances remain across the northern tier of the country and southern Canada, stronger-than-expected conditions could allow the lights to be seen even farther south, especially through smartphone cameras.

📸 Best Viewing Tips:
• Find a dark location away from city lights.
• Look toward the northern horizon.
• Allow your eyes time to adjust to the darkness.
• Use your phone’s night mode for the best chance of capturing colors.

⚠️ Keep in mind that aurora forecasts can change quickly. The exact strength, timing, and visibility area won’t be known until the solar energy actually interacts with Earth’s magnetic field later today and tonight.

We’ll be watching the latest space weather data throughout the day and will provide updates if conditions strengthen or if the viewing area expands farther south.

Have you ever seen the Northern Lights before? If so, where did you see them? 🌌

Disclaimer: Aurora visibility forecasts are subject to change based on real-time solar and geomagnetic conditions. This graphic represents a potential viewing scenario and is not an official forecast.

Coronal hole #62 is now directly facing Earth. A solar wind stream flowing from this zone is expected to reach our planet beginning June 3rd and into the 4th. Currently active geomagnetic conditions (Kp4) with a chance for minor (G1) geomagnetic storming (Kp5) should be expected. More updates in the days ahead. On May 4, 2007 this iconic audio recording was actually made at DX-World HQ in Scotland using a Kenwood TS-570 as the radio and an old mobile phone as the sound recorder. 20m was the band.

With a little bit of manipulation back then the file was given MP3 and / or WAV status and the rest is history.

While it has been well shared and played numerous times before, it's always worth a listen because there's never been a BS7 activity since.
