Chesterton High School This is the official page for Chesterton High School, located in Chesterton, Indiana.

As part of the Duneland School Corporation, Chesterton High School serves the towns of Chesterton, Porter, Burns Harbor, Dune Acres, and portions of unincorporated Porter County, Indiana. The area extends to Lake Michigan and is adjacent to the Indiana Dunes and the National Lakeshore. Duneland School Corporation provides K-12 education to about 5800 students in a 92-square mile area from the town

ships of Westchester, Jackson, Liberty, and parts of Pine Township. Enrollment at Chesterton High School surpassed the 2000 mark in the 2007-2008 school year. Chesterton High School is the end point in a progression of transitions between schools within the corporation. Students coming to Chesterton High School through the Duneland system started by attending one of five K-4 elementary schools that feed into two 5-6 intermediate schools and then into the middle and high schools. Chesterton High School also offers an Alternative Learning Center for high school students. Chesterton High School employs 125 professional staff members including regular education teachers, special education teachers, guidance counselors, administrators, and program directors. Additionally, over 60 classified positions including secretaries, nurses, instructional aides, paraprofessionals, lunch aides, interpreters, school security personnel, and technology are employed to support the educational program. The high school staff is also active in the hours after school supporting a variety extra and co-curricular programs many of which have been recognized at the state or national level.

Chesterton High School Cheerleading Team Recognized by Senator Rodney Pol for IASP State Championship

The Chesterton High School Cheerleading Team was recently honored by Indiana State Senator Rodney Pol for its outstanding achievement in capturing the Indiana Association of School Principals (IASP) State Cheerleading Championship during the 2025-2026 school year.

During a special presentation, Senator Pol recognized the team's dedication, perseverance, and commitment to excellence by presenting a Senate Resolution commemorating their state championship season. The resolution celebrates the team's remarkable accomplishment and acknowledges the hard work of the student-athletes, coaches, and supporters who contributed to their success.

The IASP State Championship represents the highest level of achievement in Indiana high school cheerleading, and the Chesterton High School team demonstrated exceptional talent, teamwork, and school pride throughout their championship run.

Congratulations to the CHS Sophomore Class of 2028 for winning the Attendance Challenge for the 2025-26 school year! They finished the year as the cohort with the best attendance percentage (94.77%)! This is the second year in a row the Class of 2028 has had the best attendance at Chesterton High School.

The Freshman Class of 2029 made it close, finishing in second with 94.72%. All cohorts improved their attendance over the last 3 weeks, and Chesterton High School finished the year with a 94.33%. This is the HIGHEST attendance percentage over the last three years!!

Thank you to all students and families for your diligence and work to prioritize consistent student attendance this year. ONWARD TROJANS!

Chesterton High School is proud to announce that senior Suzanne Adnet has signed her letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic career at Butler University, where she will perform and compete as a member of the Butler Dance Team!

Suzanne plans to major in Biology as she pursues her goal of a future career in the medical field. Throughout her high school career, Suzanne has established herself as an accomplished and dedicated dancer with an impressive list of achievements, including:

• 2021 National Runner-Up in Kick
• 2023 State Champion for Jr. Ensemble
• 2024 National Champion in Kick
• 2025 State Champion for Small Ensemble and AA Jazz
• 2026 State Runner-Up Senior Solo
• 2026 State Champion in AA Jazz
• 2026 State Champion in AAA Kick

Suzanne’s commitment, talent, and work ethic have made her an outstanding representative of Chesterton High School both on and off the dance floor.
