With more than 50 public parks and 5,000 acres of green space, the Chesterfield County Parks and Recreation Department offers many opportunities for residents to engage in recreation and outdoor pursuits. The county is also home to athletic complexes, where sports tournaments and athletic events are hosted. In addition, the parks system maintains many historical sites, an extensive trail system an

d several conservation areas. Three recreation centers, in Bensley and Ettrick parks and at Stonebridge, the Rockwood Nature Center and the County Fairgrounds are part of the facility inventory. A wide variety of recreation services are offered, catering to the unique interests of citizens. The departmentโ€™s Program Guide outlines recreation services in these areas: sports and athletics, classes, special events, therapeutic recreation, outdoor adventures, programs for older adults, nature programs, summer camps and historical interpretation. It's not open yet but coming soon! Look at that gorgeous blue and green turf! ๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿฉต๐Ÿ’š Crews are working hard to construct all of the amazing facilities you will soon be able to enjoy at The Park at River City Sportsplex. Pictured is the rope course, fitness equipment, splash pad and zipline.

Explore the park and have fun with us as we celebrate International Day of Play at the grand opening of The Park at River City Sportsplex from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 11. Activities will include a bubble machine, scavenger hunt, and demonstrations from Rockwood Nature Center.

Enjoy free Kona Ice. Food and drinks will be available to purchase from vendors.

Work at CTC Hull Pickleball Courts is scheduled for Monday, June 1 to Tuesday, June 2. During this time, the inside courts will be closed for construction and will reopen once work is complete.

Starting June 8, all courts at CTC Hull will be closed for court renovation work. The closure is expected to last about three weeks, weather permitting.

Players showcased their amazing skills and teamwork in the highly competitive Futsal Tournament at Beulah Recreation Center on Friday, May 22. It was an exciting evening as spectators watched great plays from the sidelines and cheered after every goal. โšฝ

Update: The playground will close June 3 through June 5 as crews work on repairs.

Due to rainy weather, repairs to the turf at A Playground for Katie and Friends at Huguenot Park have been rescheduled to next week. The playground will be closed on Wednesday, June 3 through Friday, June 5 while work is in progress.

Thursday, June 11 is International Day of Play and what better way to celebrate by joining us for the grand opening of The Park at River City Sportsplex! ๐ŸŽ‰

International Day of Play recognizes the importance of play in children's development and encourages the community to take part by engaging in recreational activities.

From 4 to 7 p.m. on June 11, have fun playing in a bubble machine, participating in a scavenger hunt and learning animal facts from Rockwood Nature Center's environmental educators.

At 5:30 p.m., Clover Hill District Supervisor Jessica Schneider will share remarks and cut the ribbon, marking the official opening of the park.

Enjoy free Kona Ice as you explore the park's splash pad, playground, trail and fitness equipment. Food and drinks will be available to purchase from vendors.

Tomorrow: The Therapeutic Recreation Instructor Open House will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 28 at Beulah Recreation Center.

Instructors experienced in working with individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend to learn about paid instructor opportunities in our Therapeutic Recreation section. Bring your resume, letters of recommendation and tell us about yourself at this free event!

Stonebridge Recreation Center celebrated the beginning of summer with an afternoon of games, snacks and refreshments on Friday, May 22. Community members ages 50+ participated in a variety of activities including chair volleyball, co****le and table tennis.
