Support your local farms and agribusinesses this year. Many are dealing with crop losses from frosts and drought. Virginia grown strawberries, blackberries, peaches, blueberries, cherries, apples, grapes, and more will be hard to find. It was sad at a recent training only finding one or two apples on a tree. Even when the crops aren't there for you to visit and pick, farmers still have to maintain those plants the rest of the year. They still need to provide for their businesses and families. Support them by buying other products they make, attending events they host, and hoping for better luck with later crops. Welcome Cole Young aboard for the summer as our VCE Summer Intern!

Cole is currently a student at Virginia State University, aiming to earn his bachelor's in agriculture with a concentration in animal science. Agriculture has been a major part of his life and he wants to share it with as many others as he can. It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the loss of Sarah Gregory. She was a pillar of the 4-H community for over 60 years, as were her parents before her. She was an embodiment of the motto "to Make the Best Better." She was an inspiration to countless Chesterfield youth, and a paramount community mentor.

She was a longtime leader of our Business Bunch Club, which has been active for over 45 years. Always eager to invest in the next generation, Sarah loved to see the joy and excitement in children as they learned various skills, from making Christmas stockings to sewing.

We will miss her, and her memory will live in the hearts of those she served. Sarah sincerely lived the pledge of 4-H, there was not a head with clearer thinking, a heart with greater loyalty, a hand with larger service, or someone who pledged their health more steadfastly to better living for her club, her community, her country and her world.
