Jazz at Chester Town Hall
On September 26th at 7 PM Eugene Uman, the Director of the Vermont Jazz Center, returns to Chester Town Hall. Joining Eugene on piano are four world-class musicians: Steve Cady on bass, George Robinson on drums, Matt Steckler on saxophone and vocalist Bella Holtz. Known as the “Family Band,” this marvelous quartet interprets the idiom of jazz through extraordinary musicianship, unique arrangements, and joyful collaboration.
Like many artists, Mr. Uman brings his life experience to his composing and arranging. As Vermont poet Verandah Porche notes: “Before dedicating his life to music, Eugene was a forester. The well-being of the biome was his beat. He brings this deep attunement to his work as a composer.”
With vocalist Bella Holtz bringing her dynamic and unique interpretations of jazz standards and gems from the Great American Songbook, and bass, drums, and saxophone rounding out this classic ensemble, the deep traditions of jazz blending with a spectrum of musical and cultural influences, will result in a truly moving and important evening of music.
This concert is presented by Upstairs at Town Hall (UATH), a 501(C)3 community not-profit that sponsors art and cultural events in the beautifully restored Chester Town Hall theater, a fully accessible venue located at 556 Elm Street in Chester, VT.
Admission to this concert is free and all are welcome. Donations at the door as well as sponsors and underwriters, enable UATH to offer unique events for Southern Vermont and New Hampshire communities.
