🎉 Canned for a Cause – We’re Joining In! 🎉

Starting September 8th, 2026, we’re helping support Canned for a Cause — and they got one of ours this year! 💙 If you’d like to help bail Kelli out, we’re collecting nonperishable food items to support families right here in Chester County.

A donation box will be located in our lobby where you can drop off your items. All donations help stock local food pantries and create Thanksgiving and Christmas meal boxes so families can enjoy a holiday meal together. 🦃🎄

Thank you in advance for your kindness and generosity! 🙌💛

💧 August is Water Quality Month! 💧

This month, we’re celebrating the everyday work that keeps our drinking water clean, safe, and reliable. One essential part of protecting water quality is our Cross Connection Control Program — a critical defense against contamination in the distribution system.

What Is Cross Connection Control?

Cross connection control prevents outside substances from entering drinking water through backflow. According to industry guidance used in our operations, cross connection control is a key element of maintaining water quality and system integrity.

How We Protect Your Water
• Backflow prevention devices: Installed and monitored to ensure water only flows in the right direction.
• Routine inspections: Cross connections are identified, documented, and addressed as part of ongoing system safety practices.
• Certified staff: Licensed operators oversee testing, operation, and maintenance to ensure full compliance with state and federal standards.

Why It Matters

Cross connection control prevents contaminants from entering the drinking water system, protecting every home, business, and public facility we serve. This program works alongside hydrant flushing, valve exercising, and other water quality efforts to keep our water clean and dependable.

Celebrating Water Quality Month

We recognize the dedicated professionals who make programs like cross connection control possible. Their vigilance keeps our community safe — today and every day.

💧 August is Water Quality Month! 💧

At Chester Metropolitan District, protecting water quality is something we work on all year long — and one of the biggest ways we do that is through our system-wide flushing program.

Why Flushing Matters

• Keeps water fresh: Regular flushing improves circulation throughout the distribution system, helping maintain disinfectant levels and preventing stagnation.
• Maintains disinfectant residuals: Monthly flushing and testing ensure adequate chlorine levels in the lines to keep them disinfected.
• Removes buildup: Flushing clears out naturally occurring sediment and minerals so customers continue to receive clean, clear, high quality water.
• Supports system reliability: Hydrant flushing, valve exercising, and unidirectional flushing are nationally recognized best practices for safeguarding distribution system water quality.

Our Commitment

CMD performs routine flushing across the system — including hydrants — to make sure water stays moving, fresh, and safe. If you see hydrants running, don’t worry! It’s part of our proactive water quality protection program carried out by trained, licensed professionals.

Clean water doesn’t happen by accident — it happens because of dedicated people and strong programs like flushing.

We’re proud to continue delivering safe, reliable water to our community this Water Quality Month and every month.
