🔥 Ohio Seasonal Burn Ban Starts March 1, 2026 🔥

🚫 To protect people and property from wildfires, Ohio law restricts most open burning in unincorporated areas starting March 1 through May 31.
During this period:

🕕 Burning is ONLY allowed:
✅ 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM daily

⏱️ Burning is not permitted
❌ Between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM

📍 This applies to outdoor burning of yard waste, brush, debris, trash, etc.,

⚠️ Some materials (like food waste, petroleum products, tires, etc.) are never allowed to be burned.

📞 For local rules and safety guidance, contact your fire department or Ohio Division of Forestry.

In 2025, thankfully we saw a dramatic decrease in emergency responses in Chester Twp! In total, we responded 69 times, 49 which were in Chester Twp and 20 additional responses helping other departments.

-We travel 2,367 miles in total, using 403 gallons of fuel, costing $1,490.68

-We had 352 individual responses to emergency calls

Structure Fire
State Route 124 (Olive Twp)

Units were dispatched to a working commercial structure fire. Units were on scene for approximately 5 hours. We responded alongside Reedsville Volunteer Fire Department, TuppersPlains Volunteer Fire Department, Bashan Volunteer Fire Department, Coolville Volunteer Fire Department, Carthage Volunteer Fire Department, Little Hocking Volunteer Fire Department, Pomeroy Volunteer Fire Department, Syracuse Volunteer Fire Department, Racine Volunteer Fire Department, York Township Volunteer Fire Department (Box 5), Meigs County EMS, Meigs County Sheriff Office, Ohio State Highway Patrol & Ohio Department of Transportation.

Engine 51, Tanker 54, Rescue 58 responded.

Units were dispatched to a line down across the road. Units found this scene in Bedford Township. POV unit removed the communication line from the roadway and notified Pomeroy Volunteer Fire Department of the situation.

Units responded to a OnStar notification of a 2 car MVC. Units arrived to find 2 vehicles off the road. Units provided traffic control for Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Units responded to a report of a Power line down and a transformer on fire. Units searched the area with nothing found.

ATV Accident
Shumway Road

While units were returning from the previous call, we were notified of a ATV accident. Units arrived to find the patient approximately 300 yards in a field. Fire personnel provided first aid care until EMS arrived.

Brush 50, Rescue 58, Engine 51, ATV 5, Meigs County EMS & Meigs County Sheriff Office responded.
