Raise the Pole Barn!
Chester’s historic granite saw is a marvel of engineering, but the weather is winning the battle. We are raising funds to build a protective pole barn to preserve this landmark.
We have a goal: $25,000, to build a permanent pole barn to cover this site. We need to stop the decay and give this heavy metal legend another 100 years of existence.
We are asking to protect a piece of history.
The industrial grit and craftsmanship of Western Massachusetts are legendary. Our hills were built by quarries and powered by machines that defined an era. This massive historic granite saw, complete with its towering circular blade and heavy flywheel, is one of the last true monuments to that rugged past. Today, it sits exposed to the New England elements.
We are launching a regional campaign to raise $25,000 to build a permanent, pole barn to protect this incredible industrial landmark.
This isn't just about one town; it's about our shared Western Mass heritage. We must ensure this powerful piece of our region’s history—is preserved for generations to come.
