2026 Open House & Public Safety Day

🚨 CALLING ALL LOCAL AGENCIES & COMMUNITY PARTNERS! 🚨

The Kent Island Volunteer Fire Department is gearing up for our 2026 Open House & Public Safety Day, and we’re looking for organizations that want to be part of it!

📅 Saturday, October 10, 2026
⏰ 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM

We want to fill the day with hands-on displays, demonstrations, unique equipment, and resources for the whole family. We’d especially love to hear from organizations that can bring:

🐕 K9 Units
🚁 Drones
🚓 Law Enforcement & specialty units
💣 Bomb Squad
🚒 Touch-A-Truck vehicles & equipment
❤️ Health & Wellness resources
🦺 Public Safety displays & demonstrations
…and anything else the community would love to see!

Have a cool truck, specialized equipment, interactive demonstration, or service you’d like to showcase? Bring it! This is a great opportunity to meet local families, share what your organization does, and help us make public safety education fun and engaging.

Members may also qualify for valuable benefits, including:

Cadet membership is available for ages 12–15, and active or associate membership begins at age 16. No prior fire or EMS experience is required—just a willingness to learn, serve and be part of the team!

🚨 Community Alert – KIVFD Photo Fund Drive 📸

The Kent Island Volunteer Fire Department is proud to once again partner with Bob Gosselin Photography for our annual Photo Fund Drive. This fundraiser is one of our major annual fundraising efforts and helps support the equipment, training, and services our volunteers provide to the Kent Island community.

📍 What to Expect: Over the coming weeks, Bob will be visiting neighborhoods throughout our first due response area, going door-to-door to offer family portrait opportunities as part of this official fundraiser.

For your peace of mind, Bob carries an official letter on Kent Island Volunteer Fire Department letterhead identifying him as an authorized representative of our Photo Fund Drive. If you ever have questions or would like to verify his identity, simply ask to see the letter or contact us directly.

⚠️ IMPORTANT CARNIVAL UPDATE ⚠️

Due to the approaching severe weather and the safety concerns associated with the incoming storms, tonight's Kent Island Volunteer Fire Department Firemen's Carnival has been canceled.

The safety of our guests, volunteers, ride operators, vendors, and community will always be our top priority.

We would like to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who came out this week to support our carnival. Your support means so much to our volunteers and helps us continue serving the Kent Island community year-round.

While we're disappointed to end this year's carnival early, we're already looking forward to welcoming everyone back next year for another week of family fun!

A guest believes they lost a set of keys at the Kent Island Volunteer Fire Department Carnival on Thursday evening.

If you found a set of keys, turned them in, or know where they may have been turned in, please send us a message or let a carnival volunteer know.
