Members Graduate MFRI UESRTC/QACO CTE Class 24

The Kent Island Volunteer Fire Department announces the graduation of several members from the Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute Upper Eastern Shore Regional Training Center and the Queen Anne’s County CTE Fire and EMS Program, Class 24.

These members have completed hundreds of hours in both classroom and practical sessions, including training in Firefighter I and II, hazardous materials, rescue technician, and EMS courses.

Congratulations to Keegan Meise, Aldo (AJ) Monzeglio, Mya Schmidt, and Damien Reckline. Their hard work and commitment to the fire service and the community is recognized, and we wish them success in their future pursuits.

This Memorial Day, the members of KIVFD honor and remember the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. 🇺🇸

While many gather with family and friends today, we ask everyone to take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of Memorial Day and remember those who never made it home. Their courage and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

From our firehouse family to yours — thank you to all who served, and especially to those who gave all.

Recently, a community member walked into the station with a ring stuck on their finger causing concern and discomfort.

Our volunteers jumped in and worked carefully to safely remove it.

No lights. No sirens. Just neighbors helping neighbors because that’s what we do. ❤️🚒

Huge shoutout to the crew for their patience, teamwork, and dedication.

Sometimes the smallest calls still make a big difference.

This life-saving class teaches basic bleeding control skills that could help save someone’s life before emergency responders arrive. Severe bleeding can become deadly in just minutes — and knowing what to do matters.

MVC with unknown Injuries

On Sunday, May 10, at 2:30 a.m., Station 1 was alerted for a motor vehicle accident with unknown injuries after the incident was reported by a bystander. Shortly after, additional notifications were received through an Auto Crash Notification system.

Chief 1 (Thomas) arrived on the scene to find one vehicle off the roadway. Crews arrived shortly after, assessed the scene for any hazardous conditions, and assisted with patient care. Additional units were cleared shortly after the medic unit transported the patient.

Local Box 1-7

On May 17 at 2:42 p.m., Station 1 responded to a report of a vehicle fire in the area of the Thompson Creek shopping center. Officer 105, (LT B. Moran), arrived on scene and confirmed that a vehicle was on fire. Crews responded quickly and worked efficiently to bring the fire under control.
