🚨🔥 BURN BAN NOW IN EFFECT – TYLER COUNTY 🔥🚨

The Chester Volunteer Fire Department would like to inform everyone that Tyler County is now under a burn ban, effective immediately.

With dry conditions and an increased risk of wildfires, we ask everyone to do their part to help keep our community safe.

🔥 Even a small fire can quickly spread out of control, putting homes, property, wooded areas, and lives at risk.

🌲 With the amount of wooded land throughout our county, it doesn’t take much for a small fire to turn into a dangerous wildfire.

Please take this burn ban seriously and help us protect our community, our neighbors, and our first responders.

Stay safe, Tyler County!

It’s that time of year again! Chester Volunteer Fire Department is kicking off ticket sales for our Annual Deer Hunter Special Raffle!

We are only selling 100 tickets at $100 each, and ONE WINNER TAKES IT ALL!

This year’s Deer Hunter Special includes:

• R***r .22 ARC
• Crossfire HD 4-12x44 SFP scope
• 55-gallon drum feeder
• Deer stand made by Peter Burks
• 1/2 ton of deer corn

The winner will be drawn during our Annual Fundraiser on November 7 & 8, 2026!

Along with the raffle, we’ll be serving our BBQ sandwiches and baked potatoes for $15, and we’ll have our silent auction going on throughout the fundraiser.

With only 100 tickets available, your odds are pretty darn good — and once they’re gone, they’re gone!

Every ticket, meal, and auction item purchased helps support Chester VFD and allows us to continue serving our community.

We appreciate everyone who supports our department year after year, and we’re looking forward to another great fundraiser!

Get with a Chester VFD member to grab your $100 raffle ticket!

RED FLAG WARNING conditions for Tyler County for Friday and Saturday:
A dry cold front will cross the area Friday morning, with gusty north winds expected. These winds will bring in much drier air from the north, which will combine with dry conditions to bring a threat for rapid spread of any new fire starts. A Red Flag Warning has been issued for portions of the area along and north of US 190 where elevated winds and low humidity will overlap most. These concerns will last into the evening and early overnight hours as humidity will be slow to increase overnight. Fire weather concerns return during the day on Saturday.
Please refrain from burning from now through the weekend. We are not under a Burn Ban, BUT we need to listen to the warnings and not burn at this time. Thank you for your cooperation.
