As another school year comes to an end, Chester Gap Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department would like to congratulate the Class of 2026 from Rappahannock County High School, Skyline High School, Warren County High School, and Wakefield Country Day School.

Today marks the end of one chapter and the beginning of another. Behind every diploma are years of hard work, dedication, memories, challenges, and moments that helped shape each student into who they are today.

Whether your next step is college, trade school, the workforce, military service, or something still being figured out, we hope you continue to work hard, stay true to yourself, and never lose sight of your goals.

Your families, schools, friends, and community are proud of everything you have accomplished, and we cannot wait to see where life takes you next.

Congratulations to the Class of 2026, and best wishes for a bright future ahead. 🎓

Today, we join communities across our nation in honoring and remembering the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces who gave their lives in service to our country.

Their sacrifice purchased the freedoms we enjoy each and every day, and their courage will never be forgotten. This Memorial Day, we ask our community to take a moment to reflect, remember, and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation.

Always Remembered. Never Forgotten.

As families gather, grills fire up, and travel ramps up for Memorial Day Weekend, Warren County Fire and Rescue wants to remind everyone to make safety part of your plans!

Before heading out or hosting at home:
• Test your smoke alarms and make sure they are working properly
• Replace batteries if needed
• Keep grills at least 10 feet away from homes, decks, and anything that can burn
• Never leave cooking or grilling unattended
• Use caution with campfires and fully extinguish them before leaving
• If traveling, make sure your family knows two ways out of wherever you are staying
Smoke alarms save lives by providing early warning when seconds matter most. A working smoke alarm can be the difference between a close call and a tragedy.

From all of us at Warren County Fire and Rescue, have a safe Memorial Day weekend as we honor and remember the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

**** Little laughter for the day****

The King and Queen arrived at the Chester Gap Volunteer Fire Department for what officials described as a “working visit,” but what was clearly a color-motivated field trip.

“We’ve always admired the bold black and red,” the King announced, gesturing at the fire engine like it was a rare piece of art instead of something that smells faintly of smoke and Gatorade.

The Queen nodded. “It’s dramatic. Regal, even. We briefly considered repainting the palace guards.”

Fire Chief Brown, who had been hoping to discuss staffing shortages, tried to pivot. “Well, Your Majesties, while you’re here, we do have an issue getting enough volunteers—”

“Fascinating,” the King said, circling the truck. “Is this… matte finish?”

“Sometimes,” Chief Brown replied.

“Depends who had time to wash it.”

A siren chirped as Captain Eamich, unofficial Duke of Pushing Buttons, leaned on a switch.

The Queen lit up. “Oh, it sings too!”

Chief Brown sighed, realizing this meeting was not going where he’d hoped.

After a few photos and an in-depth discussion about “commanding color palettes,” the royal couple prepared to leave.

“Best of luck with your staffing,” the King said kindly. “Have you considered making the uniforms more… black and red?”
