It’s always great to see the the positive side of a tragedy because normally that’s not the case. Mateo Rosina was involved in a horrific accident on July 16, 2025 in our fire district. When our guys arrived on the scene Mateo was near deaths door. With the quick action from Lieutenant Griffins crew, Spartanburg EMS, and prayers pouring in from the whole Chesnee Community Mateo is alive and doing well today. Yesterday Roger’s Group held a special luncheon for all first responders. Lieutenant Larry Griffin and Chaplain Matthew Scruggs were able to attend from our department. Just to sit down with Mateo and listen to him was just amazing and is a miracle. Thank you Roger’s Group INC for doing everything you have done to take care of your employee. We have seen the work that you all have poured into Mateo, to help get him back to health, and to where he is today. From Mateo yesterday while we were talking: God heard everyone’s prayers and I’m here today because of them.

🥵 Multiple heat warnings are in place across the Carolinas and Georgia today.

For most of us, the heat index will reach 105–110°, while areas along the coast are under an Extreme Heat Warning with feels-like temperatures approaching 115°.

Remember, heat doesn’t always get the attention of a tornado or hurricane, but it can be just as dangerous — and in many years, deadlier.

Please take it seriously today, especially with outdoor work, practices and athletics.

As a first responder, you've been there. You remember that one critical incident that changed your view of the world and your job forever. Critical incidents can affect you in ways that only a first responder could understand.

This is where the Post Critical Incident Seminar comes in.

SC FAST invites you to the 2026 Post Critical Incident Seminar on November 9-11, 2026, in North Myrtle Beach. It is open to all fire, EMS, 911, coroners and their spouses.

This seminar is designed for first responders, by first responders. With your peers by your side, you will:

- Learn how trauma impacts the mind and body.
- Explore proven, field-tested strategies for recovery.
- Share experiences in a safe, confidential space.
- Build resilience through the power of peer support.

You may not be able to go back to the incident that changed you, but you can move forward with the support of SC FAST and your peers.

You don't have to cope alone.

Registration is open for first responders and their spouses.

Dangerous Heat For The Next Few Days And Into Next Week. Please Check On You Elderly Neighbors, Limit Time Outside, And Know The Signs Of Heat Exhaustion & Heat Stroke 🥵.

🥵 South Carolina continues to be ground zero for some of the highest heat index values in the nation.

Combine the incredibly muggy air with the intense heat, and feels-like temperatures could peak near 116° Friday.

🔥 Upstate: 104–108°
🔥 Midlands: 108–112°
🔥 Coast: 112–116°

And unfortunately, the heat shows no signs of letting up, continuing into next week.

Who’s ready for this heat wave to END?

🚨 YOU’VE GOT TIME TO SCROLL. DO YOU HAVE TIME TO SERVE?

No experience required.

No need to be a firefighter, EMT, or cop.

Spartanburg County CERT needs regular people willing to learn how to help when things aren't regular.

Floods. Storms. Searches. Shelters. Community events. Disasters.

Before we send you for a background check, we ask you to knock out:

📱 IS-100
📱 IS-200
📱 IS-700
📱 IS-800
🩸 Free Bloodborne Pathogen training

All online. All self-paced.

Use videos, study guides, AI to explain the material, flashcards, whatever works for you. Learn it, finish it, and move forward.

Why the prerequisites?

Because we used to send everyone straight to a background check…and around 70% disappeared afterward.

We don't need another name on a roster.

🔥 We need people who SHOW UP. 🔥
