Personal Property Tax Bills have been mailed and are due June 5th.

The Treasurer’s Office has mailed the 2026 Personal Property Tax bills, which are due by June 5, 2026. If you recently sold your vehicle, are a military resident stationed out of state, or have questions regarding your assessment, please contact the Office of the Commissioner of Revenue at [email protected]. For inquiries about how to pay your bill or to make payment arrangements, reach out to the Treasurer’s Office at [email protected]. Please note that tax rates are established by City Council and are available to view on the City's website: www.CityOfChesapeake.net/237/Local-Tax-Rates. Tax due dates are set according to City Code.

The Treasurer’s Office has been notified by the City’s third-party vendor of technical issues affecting the newly deployed online e-check system. The issue originates within the vendor’s product. The Treasurer and the City’s IT Department are actively working with the vendor to resolve it as quickly as possible.

In the meantime, taxpayers may continue to use alternative payment options, including in-person or by drop box (available at all four Treasurer’s Office locations), Bank Bill Pay, credit card, or mail.

The City of Chesapeake Treasurer’s Office will be closed Monday, February 16, in observance of the holiday.

All locations will reopen at 8:00 am on February 17, 2026.
